Need feedback on 28's on stock XP

So I need to swap out the shitty ITP tires on the XP I picked up. I am strongly looking at the 28x10x14 / 28x10x15 GBC Mongrels. I primarily ride desert like Ocotillo and do quite a bit of Jeep style trails. I want the 28's for clearance. How badly will I lose the bottom end with these without doing clutch work on the XP? The other tire I am looking at is the OG 27x9x12 Bighorn (which I know is close to a 28" but still a lighter package)

Sell the ITP's and buy a Dalton kit. I think they're only ~$250 or so. Yeah I know, only $250 after you just dumped ~$18k.

You will need to at least spring it if not go all the way with weights too. I put the Dalton in my S on recommendation from Jason Weller, and I haven't been dissatisfied in the least. One of the best and cheapest mods I've done...

Good luck!!!
:)

Dan is correct, the clutch kit is the answer! We put an EPI Sport Utility kit in Cisco's XP and it runs great! Lots of low end and mid range with no effect on top end. The Dalton kit is good also if you want to be able to adjust it :)

I just put a EPI kit and went to 27"X9 Rocktanes' all around. Clutch kit is the answer for 27 to 28" tires. The STI Rocktanes are 8 ply and measure a little over 27 1\2" by my measuring tape :)

i dont know about on the xp but, i did switch out my bighorns on my new maverick to the gbc mongrel tires and they kick ass.!

I keep hearing good things about the GBC mongrel tires. 28x10 all the way around. Congrats on the new XP, I am right behind you.

Thx Steve..I gave my salesman your target and told him if he can get it to contact you. See ya on the trail.
