Maverick 1000 max xrs steering issue

I just recently bought a 2014 Maverick 1000 max xrs dps. I have an issue with the steering locking up while driving. I have tried the dedifferent settings with the dps. My reason for asking is i had the new toy out on its first trip and i was coming around a hairpin turn at about 15-20mph and started to slide the maverick, i went to turn the wheel to correct the turn and the steering wheel locked up so i could not correct the turn and it ended up hooking up and the end result was a brand new toy laying on its side. Anyone heard of this problem?

Kidding..

I have not heard of the wheels ever just LOCKING. The EPS unit, even if it failed would and should still allow you to steer, albeit unassisted, but still be able to move the wheel.

Can you turn the wheel now or is still locked up??

Lol. I have been riding bikes quads and driving trucks in the desert for years now. I called can am and i guess the DPS setting defaults to max setting when you start it up which will make the steering stiff at high speed. So when i had the tires spining through the turn it sensed that and stiffened up the steering on me as i was trying to correct it.

when i test drove the XDS with power steering i hated that the steering wheel stayed turnned while on the gas in 4wd. Even at the lowest setting it still did it.

I sure am glad my XRS does not have power steering and i have Popeye arms haha
