Just getting back from the Lucas Oil Regional Arizona. Great racer count, great racing, great spectator count and most of all Good Times! Here are a couple UTV photos from the weekend. Thanks Tim Jones and the Arizona Regional for having us out.

We will kick it off with Robby Wood and his gangsta shot with the pitbulls. Ha ha. If you don't know Robby Woods you should stop by his pit and introduce yourself. He's a down to earth dude.

Jimmy Fishback and Jason Weller had an intense battle. One of the best ever in the SR1 class. Jimmy's left rear wheel ended up 40' in the air and that ended the battle. Jason Weller won round 1 of the championship. Look for the DIRTY M3DIA video soon as they captured some insane footy.

With Monster Truck Rides, Freestyle Motocross Exhibitions, Off-Road Vendors and 20 green flag races, there was no lack of entertainment for the over 1500 spectators. “We always enjoy the first race of the season, getting to see the new racers join the group and previous racers coming back with improved cars,†said Tim Jones, President of the ASCC/ Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Series Arizona. “We had some great races out on the Lucas Oil course here at Firebird. There will be some real strong competition all year long.â€

See you April 6th! (If not at the Desert Race in Parker next weekend)

An update on the April Race: It has been moved!
We are encouraging racers to go to the Lake Elsinore So Cal Regional race April 13th. If you do go, we will support you with a Free Practice at the next ASCC race, a $50 value.

Here is the official note on it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Arizona Short Course Championship’s Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Series Reschedules April Race
April 6th Race Moved to Double Header November 9th, and Drivers Encouraged to Attend Southern California Regional Series Race

GILBERT, AZ MARCH 14, 2013: After considerable consideration, the April 6th round of the Arizona Short Course Championship Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Race presented by ADS Shocks will be postponed and positioned as a double header with the November 9th and 10th race at Firebird Raceway. Arizona racers are encouraged to race the Southern California Lucas Oil Regional Series race at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park on April 13th and if attending will receive a free practice at the next ASCC race, a $50 value. “We did everything that we could to make the transition of race locations between Speed World Raceway and Firebird Raceway, but with it coming down to the wire we want to be considerate of racers schedules and planning therefore made the decision to reschedule the race as part of a double header in November,” said Tim Jones, President of the ASCC / Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Series Arizona.

“We have worked with the Southern California Regional Series to encourage our Arizona racers to run the Lake Elsinore race instead, which is the same track that will be part of the Lucas Oil Regional Shootout later in the year,” continued Jones. “By going to that race they will receive a free practice at our next ASCC race and will also be able to put some track time towards the October Shootout to have a little more competitive advantage.”

This schedule change is specifically due to the closure of Speed World Raceway after just over 50 years of being an outlet for Arizona motorsports enthusiasts, which is where the April 6th race was originally scheduled to take place. This comes at the same time as Firebird International Raceway’s property lease with the Gila River Indian Reservation is in transition between the current property managers and future possibilities.

“We expect that by the November date we will be able to have full access to the Firebird Short Course track again,” said Tim Jones. “In the meantime, our June 8th event at the Cocopah Speedway in Yuma Arizona and the September 7th event at the Tucson International Raceway in Tucson will maintain their originally scheduled dates.”

The first round of ASCC Arizona Lucas Oil Regional Series was a huge success with a full field of racers and spectators filling the stands to enjoy the racing. There were Monster Truck Rides both day’s for the family, and on Sunday there was Freestyle Motocross Exhibitions.
