On The Chip 1
Corona, CA- February 12, 2014
Welcome to On The Chip 1, where you will find everything you need to know about the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series So Cal. It’s racing time, and in just a few days some of the best short course racers will embark on a 7-round quest to prove their talent and skills on the track. The Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series presented by Kartek is locked and loaded for an epic 2014 season. Each round of the series will be a hair raising battle, but the season opener, Round 1, always brings some of the best racing to the track. The drivers have been waiting for this moment and are ready to throw down. The pits will be buzzing with fans admiring the new trucks and graphics that the off-season brings. The Optima Batteries green flag marks the start of the season for all who love dirt, trucks, and off road.
The number one key to success for all divers: seat time, seat time, and more seat time. Many of the big names in short course off road racing use the regional series to gain that valuable seat time. Hailie Deegan, Myles Cheek, Jimmy Fishback, Ryan Beat, Sheldon Creed, and Bradley Morris can all credit part of their success to the seat time gained at the regional series.
The So Cal battles will kick off at the world famous Glen Helen Raceway and fan favorite Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park. Both are home to some of the most exciting racing in Southern California. The 2014 Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series will also host three special features, the infamous return of the Beehive 1400 series, the Optima Batteries SR1 Championship series, and the debut of the Trophylite series. These series will only be in So Cal for three rounds for some intense racing.
The 2014 season will bring some stiff competition as all of the classes are stacked with veteran and new drivers trying to earn a name in short course racing. The Titan Electric Modified Kart class is one of the fiercest classes and brings some of the most action packed racing to the series. In the 2013 season only 50 points separated first and third place and the 2014 season will prove to be even more suspenseful for this class. The reigning champ, Travis Pecoy, will be on the track defending his title against front-runners Trevor Briska, Parker Steele, Cole Mamer, Brooke Kawell and others as they try to steal the championship title.
The 2014 Pro Buggy class will bring some of the most action packed racing the class has ever seen. Dave Bonner, the 2013 champion, has some stiff competition this season after Mike Valentine dialed in his program and took gold in the last three races of the 2013 season. Other racers have been hard at work building, testing, and perfecting their buggies for the start 2014 season. Sterling Cling, Erik Jacobus, Chad George, and Garrett George will be battling it out for a chance to capture the championship title.
“The Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series has seen phenomenal growth over the last couple of years. The series would not be possible without the help from our sponsors, racers, and great staff. We are overwhelmed with the amount of support we have received coming into the 2014 season†said Lucas Oil Regional Race Director, Lee Perfect.
It is time for the 2014 season to kick off and this year is shaping up to be another landmark season for the series. Stay tuned for more On The Chip before every So Cal regional race. See you at the races.
