Looking to buy my first side by side

So I have never really entertained the idea of a SxS, but I recently sold my jeep and am looking to buy one. At first I was set on buying the new honda pioneer, but after finding out it doesn't have a low range or power steering I've kind if shied away from it. I've been doing quite a bit of research and I really like the new Yamaha Viking. Most people I've talked to say I won't like it because it doesn't have enough power, etc. but I'm not getting one to race or jump or anything like that. My main purposes will be long trail/adventure rides and using it while hunting. Any input will be appreciated. And I'm hoping some guys on here will have some first hand experiences with the new Viking. Thanks in advance, and also, I'm checking in from northern Nevada.

No experience with the Viking. Take a look at the new Teryx two seater. Lots of storage built in and a bed to use for that deer.

X2. Teryx is good choice for trails and has low range with True diff lock. Very comfortable too

According to my research, the Yamaha Viking has a 9.7 gallon fuel tank, and the can-am commander 800 has an even 10 gallon fuel tank. But I'll add the Kawasaki to the list of ones I'll be liking at and test driving on my next days off.

Couple of things to think of is what ever car you get try to find one that has a service in your area or a shop that can get you parts at a fare price .. It seems like all the makers have some bugs to work out with the new model so maybe not to get the new thing on the block till it has the problems fixed , just some thing to think of , let us know what you get . Enjoy .

I love my Kawasaki. My Teryx4 will go 125 on a tank of fuel.

I agree a T4 or T2! I have had high dolor off-road cars and this T4 is amazing! It will climb a tree and in the fast sections the feedback you get from the car is great! If you were a hunter I would say go with the T2 lots of bed space and dry storage! You won't regret it.

A friend of mine has a lot of investment property in West Virginia. He was using a ranch quad or his brothers old Rhino if there, to get around the property & mountains. He wanted something that did more then just get him around the property and could carry more then one, unlike the quad. So last year he bought the Polaris Ranger and seems to be very happy with it. He uses it to hunt, and to do general maintenance on the property. He added the Polaris roof & front & back windows and an aftermarket winch. He liked the fact it has room for 3 across the bench seat, has a 10 gal tank and the tilt bed is larger then all the others he was looking at. I dont know if the Viking was out then?

His Brother has the old Rhino. He like the fact the Rhino is narrower then the Polaris Ranger, and has half doors. He said sometimes you will catch brush and it will get you in the leg. But the Ranger has a bigger bed & much more ground clearance.

He also has a dozer that he uses to maintain & clear the property. Many times after storms or from not going there for months, he has to cut up fallen trees to keep the trails in the mountain part of the property clear. Now he said he can use the Polaris 1/2 of the time that he would have had to use the Dozer, as he can cut large trees or branches out, and between the winch & power of the Polaris Ranger he can pull or move the cut logs.

So if your looking for a true Utility UTV check out the Ranger. I think they are a bit more money, then the Viking, but it might be worth it to you.

Well, after a lot of test driving, and even more research, I bought 2014 Teryx Camo 2seater. What really sold me on it was the near 50 gallons of dry storage behind both the seats. Overall it is really well equipped. Fox podium shocks, led headlights, great ground clearance and undercarriage protection. The new 800cc power plant had plenty of zip. Very pleased with it. Now I just have to wait for my stickers before I can tear up the Nevada desert! Here is a pic of the new beast:

NICE RIDE!

Is there an ottoman/footstool on the house roof behind your T2?
