For what ever reason I can't get the emails to forward to my regular email account. ISA is a 100% volunteer based association, and the 5 guys on the board are the extent of people tasked with running it. I can't speak for any of the others but I am fairly busy with my new business, and I can only take on focused tasks, over all management of an association takes paid staff something we don't have the luxury of affording.
This week I will see if I can get the web designer to give me a hand with the email situation and see what we can do about paying for some updates to the web site.
As far as the questions about the KOH race and how well it will be run under ISA, I will tell you this. I ran it last year for HK, with the help of Reid, and Mike. If I was running the show at KOH still I would have dropped the race. (It was a money loser big time) I suspect Dave might have done the same thing if not for Reid, and Mike and the rest of the ISA believing in the UTV hammers race. Because of the rule package, classes, and amount of work Mike has put into it this year, it looks like it will be the biggest desert based race in the history of UTV racing, so something is getting done correctly.
Among the many balls I have in the air on any given day is sitting on a federally appointed panel for the BLM concerning permits on federally managed lands. The tracker has been mandated for every class of race at this event by the BLM. The event is far and wide the largest racing event held on BLM land in the western states. There is no other event like this in California, I suspect it will be even bigger than years past. My understanding is that you can rent the IRC bracket, and you don't have to actually buy it.
Is it going to be perfect, maybe not. But far from a fiasco. Five guys who are buried in their regular jobs are not going to be able to build an association, it will take a dedicated membership with the desire to make it happen. Some items are going to fall through the cracks, and its going to be a rough road to start, but I can tell you this much if nothing else, not only did ISA save the hammers UTV race they have quit possibly made it the biggest one to date. ( The other ISA guys doing the work on this have done a bunch with little or no help from me. I want nothing to do with planning any racing events at KOH and they have respected that.)
