Katie Vernola to race women's pro class in 2015
Text from Examiner:
Playboy playmate turned racer, Katie Vernola, has just announced she will join the Terracross Championship series in the women's pro SxS class for her 2015 season. Katie, June 2010's centerfold, has quickly transitioned into short course racing.
Beginning just after graduating High School, Katie used the funds she earned as a model and playmate to purchase her first UTV, a Polaris RZR 900. She initially had no plans to race, but one trip as a spectator to a Lucas Oil Regional Series race had her hooked. She immediately made plans to compete in the next race in the RZR 900 Production class.
She quickly worked to get a program together and sponsorship support necessary to begin competing at Round 1 of the 2014 Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series, where she would work her way up to a Top 10 finish in the field. From there, she continued racing at every available opportunity for valuable seat time, and the goal to move up the ranks of short course racing.
She finished her rookie season in the top ten points out of twenty two drivers for the 2014 Lucas Oil Regional Season, the top female finish in the class.
She has since signed several new sponsorship deals to help prep her for the move to the Terracross Championship Women's Pro SxS class.
