Is it possible to do a R1/SV1 swap with a 4 seater?

Id like to keep the bed of my rhino and my rear seat. Is it possible with this engine swap?

Also, is it possible to do this and still putt around with my son strapped in his seat in the back? I ride down fire roads right now mainly with him in the back of the rhino, not typically going over 20-30 mph.

I want a machine that i can still ride with my wife and son and enjopy, but also something with more power. Id also like to be able to take it out by myself and rip around like i stole it. Just trying to decide on what to do for a healthy balance between both of those.

IMO, you would be way ahead to just save your pennies and buy a RZR4 XP900 or the T4:D Probably less money, more reliable and much safer for the peeps or children in the rear:eek:

The r1 is not the engine to putt around with. Cooling issues when driving slow and high rpm needed to run it.

Weller racing, Darkside fab and Metaltech do the r1 swap.

Its possible, and has been done, but IMO the R1 is way to much power for a short 4 seater. It doesn't put around that great, and requires some good RPM to scoot (not a lot of torque). To gear it down enough to put around, you'll need a reverse box, which are pretty tall, and limit how low you an go with the rear bed floor.

Alright, thanks guys. Ive been a Yamaha guy all my life, sleds, bikes, 4 wheelers, etc and would like to stick with Yamaha. But, the time may have come to jump ship to a different brand though. I wish Yamaha would hurry up and release a 4 seater with more than 700cc.

Don't hold your breath:eek: Good luck with your search:D

If you want to stick with your Yamaha, and still have something fast and 4 seater, I would do the SV1000 swap over the R1, if you want to put around too. It has a little more low end grunt, and doesn't require as much RPMs to make power. Plus then you don't have to widen the C pillars. Maybe even be worth it to add some wheel base to it while your at it, make it more like the length of a Teryx 4.

Definitely not opposed yo doing the SV1 swap and a long travel kit. How hard is the SV1 to do for someone who hasnt ever done a motor swap. Im pretty mechanical....have worked on wheelers and sleds alot. Is there a ton of blind wiring involved. Tons of welding?

The Weller SV1 kit is really easy, but doesn't have reverse. I don't know of anyone selling a bolt in kit with reverse for the SV1000

Id be fine with no reverse. Ill look into wellers kit more. Ive seen them but wasnt sure how much else id need besides the motor, wiring, and the kit.

Headers/exhaust, fuel pump/ lines, clutch pedal. Wellers kit is pretty complete, and the have everything else you need too

i would do the rotax motor. you keep reverse/4wheel drive your bed and seats can stay in same place. any of the street bike conversions are very limited. ex small clutch you will burn up

I have to disagree with a lot of claims mentioned above. I did a 4 seater r1 swap with reverse box and am very happy with it. I can putt around with it just like I did with the Rhino motor because of the low rpm's and the gearing of the box. If you really want to get on it, it turns into a monster at 9000 rpm. it does get a little hot in the lower rpms but I have a fix for that.

I also have an aluminum bed that is mounted to the Rhino frame and the rpm box fits under it perfectly. The wheel base of the Rhino is perfect for the r1 as well.

Also, I did not have to widen anything. It works awesome.

I may be selling my 07 SV1000 motor with weller mount. It has 7k miles on it and I would let the whole motor with harness and ecu and cluster go. Shoot me a PM
