I was not liking the black plastic for letters near the shifter for ( P, R, N, L, H ) and in low light or dark it really was no fun. Sure you can look on the dash wile you move your right hand but I look at what I am doing not at the dash.
So I went off what SandCyco did and painted the letters, but with glow in the dark paint. I found white paint that glows white or a little off white like green / blue but it does look white in low light when it is glowing.
I got it from Glow Inc. for about $20 with shipping and they had it to me in a couple of days. I got solvent based but they also have water based. I got 1/2 oz and it came in a bottle like nail polish with a brush. I put on three coats and that works great. You are better off keeping it clean and adding more on the next coat than trying to clean up paint on the edges. You might even what to get a smaller brush.
