What's everyone's opinion on header/exhaust wraps?

I just wrapped the exhaust on my turbo Maverick, but chose not to use the hi temp silicone spray to allow for some heat dispersion.

Just curious on everyone's thoughts on this matter since there seem to be a lot of varying opinions...

i wrapped mine header to hollowed out cat to keep heat out of the cabing and away from the clutch. been installed for three years now, no issues.

I've heard it's bad for the pipe but I've wrapped a couple with no issues. Both pipes were stainless though. I know the wrap can hold in moisture and rust out a steel pipe. When you wash it it's going to get wet most likely.

I have installed on several drag cars, with no problems. I also put it on the 1922 car and the 1970. Neither lasted more than two races.

We wrapped ours w 1800 degree fiberglass 1" thick with .016 aluminum around it held together w hose clamps. Need to take it off before u wash it.

If your not running stainless dont wrap the muffler or tubing. Water will collect creating rust quickly

If your going to wrap it make sure to wet the wrap before hand, it'll make it much easier to get tight
