Cody Rahders and the 100' shortcut.

Tyler Winbury started out racing his Teryx and a couple laps into the race he started feeling very sick. So he pulled into the pits and turned over the driving to Lucas Oil SR1 driver Cody Rahders who happen to be there watching the race. Cody strapped in wearing a t-shirt, jeans and some house slippers. Towards the end of the race the dust was bad and Cody missed a turn and ended up going off the course and rolling 4 or 5 times into 100' deep canyon. He was not hurt and the car did not suffer major damage. Here is a couple pics after I took while trying to recover the car.

Don't know if I'd call that a shortcut so much as a oh sh** moment.

Glad he's not hurt.

 What a ride.
I cant thank or apoligize to the Winburys enough.

Cody and I are standing there watching a pleasent Sunday afternoon race when I see Pat running so I told Cody to back up, Tyler must be pitting. Pat then runs over to us and says "Cody drive Tylers car", literally 1 minute later were stripping Tyler down due to the early stages of heat stroke and Codys off in Tylers car. He did manage to pass a couple of cars then caught the DFR Teryx but wasnt fast enough to pass, the two of them then caught a third car and with the dust, the sun setting, plus Cody having difficulty seeing out he missed a turn in a really bad spot.

After we pulled the car out and were looking at it under the lights I felt terrible that not only did they not finish the race but we rolled his car in the process. Pat is awsome and says "Are you kidding me, dont worry about it besides, what else would we be doing with our kids on a Sunday?"

Pat, Shannon, and Tyler, thanks! Case of Corona in a can coming your way.

BTW, Cody would like to thank DVS shoes for making such an excellent driving slipper...
