I went to this race. But I was working for our Class 1 team so I didn't not get to spend much time focusing on UTV's. I did see almost everyone come by Pit B.

I saw the Ram Motorsports car out early with a belt/clutch problem. I heard a red UTV was stranded out in the middle of the desert near RM 29ish.

This race was so fast. I arrived in Jean at 10:00pm on Friday. It was 24 Degrees. I did some final prep and double checking items on my list and then I hopped in the race trailer to call it a night. Well during the day someone broke our trailers door so it would not close. I slept in my boots, hoodie and beanie trying to keep warm. I woke up every 10 mins hoping it was morning so I could just get up. Worse night of sleep ever. 5:00am rolled around and I got up and started getting the Diesel Jet Heater going to try and warm the chassis up so we could touch it (19 degree at 5:00am). We could not get it to work. Not thinking about the deep freeze we just had and the adverse affects it would have on the cooling system (can't run antifreeze, it's a rule). We fired the car up an let it idle. I noticed the temp climbing near 200 so I kicked the fans on and it kept climbing so we shut it down. We began frantically taking the panels off the motor and radiator so we could try and find the frozen spot. We kept cycling it and cycling it. Then I got the bright idea to get buckets of HOT water and dump into the radiator. We poured water over the rubber hoses, the thermostat housing and into the rad. We fired the car up and covered it with blankets so the heat could not escape. In the end all these things worked and we were ready to race.

We were pitting for 3 cars. Truck 8002 who blew a motor at RM1 because he never got his cooling system working, car 3012 who snapped at spindle at RM27 on lap 1 and our DFR Class 1 that pulled off a 2nd in its first race with us.

Our Class 1 ran amazing all day. Here is a shot of us flying at 112mph.

We had to drive out after the race and recover the 3012 car. We did 40 plus miles on the course towing a trailer. We finally found it and loaded it up. A 6 hour mission.

The around 7:00pm we loaded up and headed home. To say the least it was a crazy 24 hours.
