YAMAHA MOTORSPORTS TO
PRESENT FINAL CHAMPIONSHIP
RACE OF THE SEASON
Presents…
For immediate press release…
California City, CA – September 28, 2017 - Lou Peralta, President and CEO of AVE/BP RACING announced today that Yamaha has stepped up to “Present” and sponsor the final event of the PURE UTV OFF-ROAD DESERT SERIES; The PURE “250” – October 28, 2017.
In doing so, Yamaha through AVE/BP have posted a $1,000 purse for the Overall winner of the 250-mile, six-lap race. This money will go directly to the Overall finisher and is in addition to the Pro Purse that is accumulated from Pro entries for the event.
Discussions were conducted with Yamaha representatives, Tom Nemec, Regional Marketing Manager, West Region and Ken Durr, District Manager West Region. Both had the opportunity to visit the site, which is Alta Vista Ranch, 138th & Proctor and also take a look at the race courses that will be set up for the weekend.
In conjunction with the final event of the PURE UTV Series, Yamaha is also conducting a new model SXS Yamaha Consumer Demo, featuring the new YXZ 1000 Models. Lou Peralta and staff have designed a neat off-road course to allow prospective buyers a chance to drive the new models over a four-mile lap. This course has been laid out totally separate from the race course of the PURE 250 and is on the West Side of the AVE Ranch.
Everyone is invited to participate, whether as part of the team racing or just OHV riders and drivers that visits the always popular Cal-City OHV desert area.
The October 28 race promises to be a “slam-bam-thank-you-mam” affair as a number of Class points championships and the Overall points will be decided at this “double points” race. In some cases, only a few points separate first from third in Class and Overall. As an example there is a three-way battle for Overall Points Championship between current leader Bradley Howe (Can-Am), and Justin Spencer (Polaris) and both Joshua Wakeland (Yamaha) and Jesse Gage (Yamaha).
Likewise in the Navigator standings, the points mêlée is fierce between Nicholas Weaklem (Yamaha), Dylan Gage (Yamaha) and Aaron Wedeking (Polaris).
The October 28 PURE 250 is scheduled to start at 10:00 am with one vehicle leaving the line in 30-seconds intervals. Racers have six hours to complete all six laps. Once the first vehicle completes the required laps, he/she will get the checkered flag and every vehicle thereafter will also get the checkered flag no matter how many laps may have been completed.
PRE-RUNNING REMAINS THE SAME AS ALWAYS: The way it works for pre-running is that a GPS of the course file will be available one week before the race. The normal schedule is to allow those who have entered the event to receive the full GPS file, which then can be uploaded and used to pre-run the race course.
There is limited pre-running with only the weekend before the event and also the Friday before Saturday’s race start at 10 a.m. As always, radio relays, paramedic teams and official monitors will be stationed throughout the course during the entire event.
THE YAMAHA SXS CONSUMER DEMO - During the Yamaha Driving Tour, each participant will have the opportunity to drive the brand new Yamaha YXZ models around the almost 4-mile course. Yamaha provides a lead official to take drivers around a really neat course, full of whoops, sand rails, a short wash, a few rocks and plenty of G-outs to keep it challenging and fun. Yamaha also provides a trail master who will bring up the rear.
The weekend of Saturday, October 28 promises to be a fun-filled weekend with both the all-out PURE UTV 250 mile race and the Yamaha YXZ 1000 Consumer Demo. Bring the entire family. Everyone is welcomed.
