BITD 2012 Season DSR1 Build

Worked on the car this weekend while waiting for the Parker updates. :) got the steering done, the dash and tunnel support tubes in, and the shifter remounted on the tunnel support.

Now we just need to mount up the UMP air cleaner and RaceAir pumper, then it is onto the sheet metal work and finishing up the electrical with all the switches, etc.

Can't wait for the Mint!

Wow those look beefy! Can't wait to get our set, hopefully the test fit-up goes well today.

I'm a little sketchy about the BYU propaganda under them though, if you need me to send down some U shwag just let me know.. :D

Pretty much spent all week building a 4-2-1 collector that bolts onto the stock headers and an aluminum air box that fits on top of the stock air box to use with our UMP air cleaner.

We did have sometime this weekend to work a little on the interior panels. Got the floor and dash almost done, then it is just the firewall and tunnel. Then we are onto the body panels!

I also spent a little time on the wiring today and was able to get the engine to turnover. Now we just need to add fluids and hopefully here it run for the first time tomorrow afternoon!

Looks great. We will get the last bushings from Yamaha on Wednesday. We should have the rear hubs ready a week from now. Keep it coming!

Sounds good.. How did the fronts fit up? Hopefully everything went well and we will have those babies soon!

I sent a text several days ago asking for your address so I can send these out. Have Cody send your address and I will get the fronts in the mail.

The R1 came alive today!! Man... I cannot wait to get it together and take it out for testing!

Sweet! We will get our tires and wheels on their way than.. I can't wait for the Mint either, I just want to work on this thing all day, every day to get it done so we can start testing it! Unfortunately, that isn't feasible. :( We will have it together soon enough..

Bob,
what offset/backspace are you going to run on your wheels? I want to increase width as much as we can, but don't want the rotors and calipers hanging out of the wheel, or flirt with width restrictions?

The progress over the last couple of weeks..

We got the interior pretty much finished minus a few small adjustments and cutting the holes for the gauges, intercom, and radio. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out!

Now we are headed to the outside of the car, starting with the front/foot wells. Once we get the body panels cut and fitted and a few small things here and there then it will be time to tear the car apart for paint! We are hoping to have it painted by the end of February, that way we will have about a week to test and adjust it before prepping it for THE MINT!! Can't wait...

I've been watching your build (badass) not going to bend that frame. Looks like you have alot of room in your cab. Been also watching rupert14's posts. I'm building an rx1 rhino almost finished (on another site) hope to make the mint, want to race the v2r. Are you going to race v2r ?. Thanks Rich (keep the pics coming)

Thanks Rich! Yeah the frame is super beefy, but it sure isn't the lightest design.. I have read your build post from start to finish and got some ideas from your pics, it is looking good! That would be sweet if you made it to the Mint and V2R. We are planning on doing all the BITD races from this point forward, except maybe the Silver State as there is a closer race that same weekend and we have already missed our chance at contending for the championship by missing Parker.

Thanks for the complements and stay in touch!
Cody
