I might have misunderstood, but from what I heard Casey say was top ten in the turbo class, then top ten from 1900, then the remaining turbo and 1900 racers. Is that correct?

No. Winner of previous race, class will start first.

I heard the same thing.
If the "winner of previous race class rule applied" why didn't the N/A cars start first when cognito took the overall a few times last year?

Cause he switched to a turbo

All kidding aside who knows what the rules will be each and every race.

What I heard was that the top ten from each class would start first, and the winner of the last race determined which of the top ten classes would start in front of the other top ten.

How many people realize that you don't have to even get into the car to get credit and points for winning a race? Actually don't have to get in the car all season and can win a championship. The only requirement is that the driver of record fills out the forms in person at registration. Even that can be waived with permission.

What do you think about that? Happened at Parker....winner was not at the race. Am I the only one that thinks you should be in a race to win a race?

No. Winner of previous race, class will start first.
i dont think it was ever that way.
The first ten to leave the line were the ones who finished top ten the previous race. Then next up is turbo class, followed by NA class, followed by unlimited class.

Easy solution is top 5 or top 10 start at the front of their respective class....pick a number I don't car. The rest draw. If your not at the last race draw like everyone else seems fair to me.

I'd be fine with qualifying but it just takes too much time...otherwise I'd say yeah do it.

We need qualifying... Sucks to see so many fast guys at the bottom. Matlock very last... wow..
Haha..... something needs to change!!! .
The whole top 10 thing is a joke. The top 5 at Parker were reasonably close to Mitchy (within 20 minutes). But 6th place was 40 minutes off the lead pace and 10th place was an hour off pace. That should hardly qualifie someone to start in the top 10. But for now it looks like it will make it a fun and crazy race for sure.

When Casey made that statement at Parker, I interpreted it to mean the top 10 of each class would be in front of their respective class, with the first finisher to determine which class started first. This is what appears to have taken place.

If the top 10 NA cars were in front of all the turbo cars it would make it more challenging for the rest of the NA cars to compete with them due to the entire field of turbo cars in their way. Last season Lambert utterly dominated the NA class, and to his credit typically destroyed all the turbo cars. But due to the combined nature of the top 10 the vast majority of NA cars were basically guaranteed a draw position of 40-80 competing against position 1 or 2. Obviously not impossible on corrected time, but an up hill battle for sure.

I am hesitant about qualifying because it adds another day to each race, which simply increases the cost to participate. However I think it could help solve the downsides of a large draw (Like #47/52, wow, good thing we just rebuilt our front bumper...;)...It'll be a fun and crazy race indeed). Look at the unlimited classes- both TT and Class 1 qualify together, so when Harley smokes almost every TT, he starts up front because he earned it. This idea would put to rest the turbo vs NA discussion, as well as getting closer to having cars ordered not by chance, but by capability.

I would like to qualify also but this is a one off race pretty much..i hope we get to see these big entry numbers more often though

Correct but stem casey announced it at parker he said the winning class would start first

Maybe we will find out just how good Matlock is??? There are both sides of the coin to look at, some of the newbies might be fast, but get stuck deep in the field, some of the newbies also don't know when to move over... Qualifying is the most fair, but logistical nightmare for most people and sanctioning bodies...

Going through the turbo field was a nightmare at parker. One guy bent my rack and tie rod, then later, one put a rock through the radiator when they wouldn't move over for over a half mile in a wash.
