2017 Baja 1000 - YOU PICK EM'! & OFFICIAL TRACKING THREAD

Max Gordon and Robby are in the car. They got in around mile 840 and are currently around mile 953. Pretty awesome that Robby jumped in the car to do the last 300 miles with his son. Teaching his kid to never give up on a race.

Thar's badass. SCORE live should fire the cameras back up. That would be an EPIC interview for sure. Just a guess, but because its Robby and son, they would probably have more viewers for that moment then any other time during the race.

Its one thing for a forum to turn away from the stragglers in a race, but for the promoter not to give them the same platform they allotted to the rest of the participants is just wrong, for theirs must rank up there with the most trying stories of the race.

Really Roger? RG and 9/10 year old son finishing together in one of the last cars on the track in THE 50trh RUNNING OF THE BAJA 1000, and your cameras were turned off? Just seems like a missed opportunity to me.

What time did Creed leave the line? Is there still a couple of hour cushion left for them to finish within the allotted time?

Not sure of the 2907 start time, but at their average moving speed of 36.5mph, with 163 miles still to go, that puts them at almost 4 1/2 hours to finish. So that will likely be outside of their cutoff time, but still admirable to finish the race...

Not sure what time they left the line. I just know in the first 300 miles of the race he was running strong in the top 10.

Looks like Max and Robby are at mile 970. There are still a few non-turbo UTVs on the course just ahead of them.

It would be great if SCORE was there to interview them at the end. It would be great publicity.

Crazy to think Robby raced his Trophy Truck finished and then jumps in to do another 300 miles in a UTV.

One more notable post. Just saw the finish line interview with Chad and Rod Hall. I remember watching Hall and Fricker 30+ years ago just dominating class 4 in a straight axle pogo stick of a truck. This guy again finished the Baja 1000. The ONLY man on earth to compete in, AND FINISH EVERY BAJA 1000 ever ran.

C'mon, now. Who can even get close to being that badass! Definitely one of my all time racing heroes along side Walker and PJ.

Please tell me somebody with a camera will be at the finish when Robby and max get there..! Looks like they’re 75 miles out as of now!

Robbys marketing prowess never ceases to amaze me. They come in and get interviewed in front of everyone just as the awards ceremonies are getting started. I know probably not intended but genius just the same.
I'm assuming they didn't finish in the allotted time but still is fun to see RG and his 9 year old racing together again.

Did anyone catch the number of the 2 guys that drove their '69 or '70 Bronco from Maine or something like that all the way there , run the race then drive it back. I saw them being interviewed at contingency and wonder how they did.

Hoping Joey D does one of his sweet Baja 1000 recaps. So many stories for the the 50th running of the historic and iconic Baja 1000.

This year was an epic Baja 1000 and UTV's did very well overall, once again proving that we are 'moving on up' just like George Jefferson (reference...showing my age).

BTW...just heard that pro professional/big wave surfer celebrity Laird Hamilton rode 'bitch' aka 'co-dog' aka 'meat-in-the-seat' for all 1140 miles of the B1K. That must have been brutal. Here is a pic of him at the finish line. Not pretty...but none of us were looking like 'dancers' at that point. Ha! He was in NA car #1970 from what I was told.

I guess i was speaking more to a team winning that most had never heard of before today. Rather than an NA over alling like Rhys did last year... Hope the freaks over on racedez never hear about the 1600 car beating us by that much. They will hold on to that one till the end of time.

Our first Baja 1000 in this car in 2015 we got delivery of the brand new car within a week of the race and had pretty much no test time on the car so we had to figure things out as we raced the 1000. This race we used the Vegas to Reno as an extended test to figure out a few things on the car that we could only reproduce with a lot of race miles. Then we were off to win the 50th anniversary Baja 1000.Now that we're starting to get this car figured out look out for many more wins from our team.
