2012 BITD HenderJean 250 Photo Updates

To me, it seems like the points are a tie. But I believe Kiger wins on a tie.

93 on the first pavement section in the cool morning air....

Looks like Kiger got us for third place by 7 seconds. 7 seconds decides the 2012 BITD UTV championship after hundreds and hundreds of miles. Amazing.

You guys gave it hell. Let it be known since it wasnt in any write up Cognito Motorsports started in slot 5 and by pit 1 on the first lap had caught all but one car. By spectator area 4 Cognito made the pass to take the physical lead and hold on for 2 laps. Both Jagged X cars were able to finally make the pass with their BIG HP motors. This was the closets race i have seen to date and what an exciting day. Cant wait for 2013. Congrats JUSTIN AND JUSTIN

After an exciting day of racing cognito is proud of our 4th place finish and 4th place season finish. Obviosly we would have liked to finish the season on the box but after the dust settled we just didn't have what it takes. congratulations to jagged x for their 1-2 wins and to coastal for their season championship.

You gotta love that a couple of brothers in a Can Am are able to compete with a 1/2 million dollar race team. Way to go on all of the teams for a great season. It is getting very competitive out there.

Wow!! Dude I heard you guys hit 91mph on the pavement?

Now that's how nasty rumors get started, it was 81 and that's only because they were drafting the murry brothers

Hans I will see if I can fix that later. There is a way to fix it. Sorry. Still learning some of the new site.

Bwaaaaaahahahaha. Now that is some funny chit! My guess is that the Murry's get as much 'sponsorship' from Can Am as the Schueler's get from Polaris. The rest of the Jagged X money/product/services come from the myriad of sponsors (look at the number of decals on the side of 1919, 1932 and 1991) and the rest is made up by Jagged X or the Schueler's themselves. Yes the JX team ALWAYS comes to the races looking good, but there is no big budget from Polaris.

But you have to give it up to the UTV manufacturers that do offer contingency money. As Casey said at the awards banquet this morning, the UTV manufacturers offer up more contingency to the Pro UTV class than any other class in desert racing.

Congrats to Mark Holz and Scott K from Coastal for their two wins this year and for winning the championship in their Polaris RZR XP 900. Congrats to Derek and Jason Murry for their excellent season and for their 2nd place in the championship. Very cool guys! Congrats to Cognito for becoming a major force in BITD Pro UTV racing. Look out...they are the real deal! Everyone on this site needs to thank Joey D for being 'da mang.' He is always at the races, the rides, the dunes, press events, etc.

I hope to see everyone next year at the BITD and SCORE races. 'Viva Ute racing!'

Thats cool. Its just that the few pics you put up in the thread were a lot easier to look at.

WOW! What a season! I don't think that anyone at team JX had a clue what we were in for when we commited to field a second pro car and then when we decided at the last minute to add a third car for the Sportsman class someone should have slapped the dogshit out of me.

It was all good in Parker with Matt in the old bobsled and Brandon in the proven 1919 XP. Everthing was going according to plan as the days ticked away leading up to the Mint. Suddenly someone sped up the clock and we found our backs dangeously close to the wall. Dozens of energy drinks, a few hundred man hours and a couple heated discusions later and our twin Polaris 900 XP 4 racers emerged from the mess we call the shop and were on their way to Vagas to do battle for the rest of 2012.

The Mint turned into true racers nightmare which handed both our Pro cars their first DNF's in a long time. Our humbled crew went to work to smooth out the wrinkels but little things just kept plaguing us at nearly every race.

As the season began to wind down we were very happy to find that Matt Parks 1932 still in the hunt for a podium finish in the seasons points race.

Our entire crew has worked and worked to make these cars better at every race and in Henderson this weekend their diligence payed off as the two cars managed a 1-2 finish against the stiffest competition we have ever seen in this awsome UTV class.

To all the teams that were in the Hunt at the end.... Congratulatons! and GOD JOB! All of these teams have what it takes to finish races, to win races and to be in contention for a championship.

We are very happy to be competing with each and every one of you!

Let's hit "RESET" and let's go get some for 2013!

I'm just going off the pics from here and seeing them out at the races. Either way it is really getting competitive over the last few years

...and the speeds are getting higher. This was a fast course, but I just did the math and we averaged 49.285 mph! That includes 25 mph speed zones in both pits, one actual fuel stop, and two stop checks per lap. The top four UTV's were all within 2 minutes of each other at the finish. The championship for the top three was decided by a thin 7 points: Kiger 409, Murry 407 and me (1932) at 402. That was certainly a wild season!

It's just great to see that it is competitive and there is not just one team dominating. From the races I have been to it also seems like a great group of people very willing to help out in an way.
Good luck to all the teams in 2013.

Man, that was a blast! I camped out in the 1991 car for a change this race...so nice and relaxing, I'm sure Bill can vouch for my level of relaxation as I literally completely missed 90 degree turns...not once, not twice, but three times!:D Anyway, the course was fast and smooth....almost relaxing!
Anyway, HUGE congrats to Keiger, Murrays, and Matt this season. I know "we" (speaking for JaggedX) had our fair of struggles this season and Matt just kept being as consistent as possible...huge props to a true professional. Keiger was fast and furious and always a class act. The Murray's have always been top-notch competitors and TRULY class acts...they have proven to be a force to be reckoned with to say the least and have always been great guys to be around!!! Do you realize how painful it is to silently root for the guys in the "Canned Hams" at times!?!?!?:p
Great season and congrats to everyone who competes...it is definitely a serious commitment to play on "this stage", even for a single race and I think that everyone should be beyond proud of themselves and the class for the success that "we" have all experienced in this class. I'm sure it's only going to continue to get better and better in the future!!!

A cool video from the race
