1958 Race Report

Thanks for having us along George. Sorry we didn't get a better finish for you. We all had a good time and always learn something at every race.

Before the race started I just had a feeling Kristen would be my biggest challenge not that there aren't others but for some reason I just felt it. And it turned out just like I expected. I wanted to keep her close enough at the driver change to let you girls go at it. It almost worked. I had a lot of confidence that you would put us on the podium. Before we broke I had decided not to get back in at RM 360 if you were good. For whatever reason I never thought 2nd or 3rd.....it was always 1st. People questioned why I was all of a sudden so confident.....well there's your answer I knew if the car didn't break Lacrecia would grab the top spot. If you watched the tracker you saw it taking shape even with numerous times we stopped. It's always that one thing you didn't plan on. Even so I could have limped toward the chase truck instead of away. Backwards on the course but it was super wide so not dangerous. Big time mental error on my part. I wasn't thinking clearly from the heat and just really tough day at the office.

Great report George. Met you and the team at contingency. Good looking build. Sorry your day ended early. Wanted to mix it up with you guys. I was taking over the car at 200. So I would have been driving against Lacrecia. That would have been a lot of fun.

Look at the positive side.....I saved you from a vicious beat down! Lol

I have no doubt she would have given me a beat down. I now have a collective 210 race miles in my career. That's why I have Kent Pfeiffer on the team. ;-)

Great writeup! I was following you from home all day. Was really hoping you were just doing an extended belt change just north of check 2. Heard your chase crew come over the radio asking for an access to you and my fist pounded the desk! I have no doubt that you and Lacrecia would have been on that podium at the end of the day.

New car looks pretty slick!

Get it sorted out and i am sure you will be moving up the food chain.

Your right I thought about that too and wondered why they were going 45 -50 not 60 and already bunched together. The last minute changes were confusing. I was told that all highway sections were now 37 mph so was our bad. As far as the logjam we all moved as close up as we could I just wanted back in with the car I had been chasing who I believe also moved up. I let Jagged in because they had been in front of me as well. Jagged must have thought I had lost my mind letting them jump in....:) Actually other utvs were "helping" each other and pissing off the buggies no doubt.

Either way it wasn't a big deal no one was sure what to do......it was just part of the race why it's called a race report. . I think was Sims took the hill on his own didn't wait and pissed the locals off but more power to him. I didn't walk the area but wouldn't be surprised if there was a way around for Utv.
Sims was out at RM27 so I'm not sure who you have me confused with

Edit RM23 so my statement still stands lol

Sorry Brandon it was a blue car and I thought Jagged was near me cuz I let them in so they couldn't be too far away but who can keep track. There was a blue Utv that blew thru the traffic coordinator and ran the hill out of turn. From there on they blocked it with a truck until they were ready to let the next car go.

No problem buddy, as much as I wish I had made it further than I did I am glad I never had to deal with "The Hill"

I would have put rabbit ears, horns, pvc 90's, or whatever else they been called but Eric wouldn't let me. Thanks for the support and confidence I thought it was shaping up pretty well then Baja won.

The entire car was a Baja experiment. We ran parts we hadn't run before and a complete car we never tested. No excuses on any of it. It was in general a success in that we learned that we did a lot of things right. One being choosing Double E and George White for the suspension. I don't have words to express how freaking good and professional he is. He said Walker Evans I was cautious but already had Fox so tried something different. It's not often people exceed expectations by as much as he did mine. FYI he is NOT a sponsor and I'm not promoting him for any reason other than he earned all the respect directed to him.

And I hate the longer wheelbase when it won't fit in my trailer.

Hey Kornfed...A Pfeiffer member! Dam those guys used to haul ass on bikes...Have not heard that name in quiet some time...Good job!

I just got my shocks back from George White yesterday. I hope I like mine as much as you like yours.
