Polaris What Oil do we use in our Z1 Motor?

Hey Guys

I have been looking at the Snowmobile websites and they recommend using Synthetic 0W-40 motor oil

I assume that is because of the Cold Weather... What should we be using here in the Midwest?

I always ran Mobile 1 Synthetic 15W -50 on my turbocharged Redline.... Will that work and be OK?

Any Help would be appreciated...

We had this conversation awhile back. There is a BIG difference in the street oil (Mobil 1) and the racing Mobil 1 which is what you need. You may also use the Polaris or any other high phosphorous oil.

With these machines there's extremely high heat and stress on the motor so you need the additives they don't put in conventional oil or street synthetics.

More Zinc and more Phosphorous = more better....

As for viscosity, these engines have close tolerances and you want a 0-??? viscosity so you don't gall compnents at start-up and have ample oil flowing ASAP.

Happy reading... Hope it answers your question, it did for me when I asked the same thing and makes a lot of sense to me. I'm just glad there's so many people on here with this depth of knowledge. Keeps me from screwing my $hit up!!!:D
