Yamaha stereo issue

I have a 07 660 rhino and I installed a stereo and speakers. Its sounds perfectly fine when it is idling, when I start accelerating the sound cuts in and out or has no sound at all. Do I need a amp or is there some other issue?

Scott, is it just the power to the speakers or power to the head unit itself?

It is just the speakers the stereo itself does not flicker or anything. When I let off the gas the sound goes in and out if I turn the radio down and you can hardly hear it it quits cutting in and out

Yea, that is kind of strange. If you don't have any other accessories on you would have plenty of power to run a head unit drawing say around 25 amps. Is this a new head unit? if so, I would check your speaker leads and make sure of good connections and no chaffing somewhere. If it is a used unit, it may be an internal problem in the head unit. Keep posting back and we'll keep working to try to figure this out. Ya gotta' have some tune's man!

Its a brand new pioneer system, Im going to check the ground and trace all the wiring to see if I find anything
