FANTASTIC!

Looking back from CHECK #1 of the PURE 150 on April 23. By the end of the month, the
desert will look like someone laid a carpet of incredible colors and hues.
California City, CA – March 5, 2016 – “So what did my buddy Alan and I did on a wonderful clear, mild Saturday, where there was no race? We went out and scouted the proposed 50+-mile course we have laid out for our PURE “150” – April 23, 2016. Now I’m looking for a promoter who will come and run the race for me so that I can go and compete in what has to be one of the most fantastic 50-miles we have ever laid out.” Said race promoter, Lou Peralta, of his recent reconnaissance trip in the heart of the Cal-City’s desert.
Alan Bell reports that the course is going to offer EVERYTHING you’d like to see in a race but in short spurt. This is a common song among the AVE Staff because they do try to insert as much variety on their racecourses as they can. They have the gift that the Cal-City desert is as varied as any in the Western States. “But this time, is 100% true,” said Bell. “Man, they are going to have fun. We are using stuff that we haven’t used before or we used it maybe two or there years ago. You can’t even tell that there’s a trail, but once you hit those whoops which are hiding under the beautiful carpet of green ad yellows, you’ll know you’re on the course.”
Peralta, who has spent many years racing and promoting events in Baja and in the last decade in Cal City, tells you out flat. “I don’t care where you are in our desert, there are places that remind you of some of the best sections you’ve ever tried in Baja.”
The tentative course that the team traveled through this Saturday, March 26, will be tweaked here and there but for the most part it will be ready for the next event. Therefore, racers who sign up early will have the opportunity to receive their GPS coordinates early and pre—run this spectacular course.
Whilst entries open April 1, 2016, pre-running is limited to the weekend before the event in order to contain any impact on the terrain.
However, once you’re signed up you will get a course map plus a “kml” file which is for Google Earth to view in the comfort of your desk or laptop, an “usr” file to upload into your Lowrance unit. If your GPS is different than a Lawrence, the “kml” file you get can be converted to your needs using a conversion program. AVE/BP always recommends, GPSVisual. “It’s free and works great.” Says, Bell.
The April race will feature three (3) 50+-miles laps to be an official finisher. When the first finisher crosses the finish line all vehicles thereafter also finish. It’s run GP style. Also, the starting order is determined twenty minutes before the start of the race and it’s up to the organizer to send you through the scoring chute. So you have to be ready on a first-come-first-serve basis and ready to start every thirty seconds.
Because of the openness of the terrain, AVE/ BP allows “Drone” filming during the race. You just need to clear it with race officials and obtain a wristband and sign releases to do so.
The APRIL 23, 2016 event is the Third (3) event of the six-event PURE UTV OFF-ROAD DESERT SERIES event, and as such it will pay points for all participants, including co-drivers and Navigators.
The next race after the April 23rd event is in Mexico. More specifically, Punta Banda, Ensenada, Baja California. That’s May 28th at Ejido Coronel Esteban Cantu, where a 23-mile course has been laid out and will be raced for the first time. You can’t miss the first of the two ENSENADA CUP SERIES events. The course is incredible and the panorama of racing in such a pristine terrain is breathtaking. May 28th and Oct 12th are the two Ensenada Cup races, presented by AVE/Baja Promotions.
The PURE UTV Series returns to California City for their “night race” on July 16 for the PURE “125”.
Racing is their passion why don’t you make it yours!
Remember all AVE/Baja Promotions races in 2016 are what they call “GPS-Based.” Meaning that you must have an excellent Navigator to make sure you stay on the proper course. There are limited course markings on the course.
