Went and checked out the first Slideways Saturday event at Lake Elsinore this weekend. My son and I ran a Rhino in the SXS National sieries back in 07', (He drove I Pitted and set up the car). Lost my driver to college, so..... After not being on a track in 30 years I thought I would give it a try. Set up a safety net and threw on some beadlocks wrapped by some Maxxis Ceros tires and off I went. Since it was their first event the turn out wasn't huge. So they threw me in the 1000cc class with Sr1's, Rotax's and pro guys, Yikes!. After a couple of practice laps I knew the car was not set up right, made what adjustments I could and ran the qualifier. Went to check out the starting order for the main and find out i'll be runnining with some of the fastest guys out there in short course, namely Bryan Carr and the Anderson brothers, Cool! This was a nice grassroots event, family friendly, And went off with no major delays or problems, (rare for first time events). Entrants fees were reasonable, and no extra fees for transponders which was really nice. Lake Elsinore MX Park has really come around with the new management, and I see it being a go to place for many events in the future. You should check it out!
