READ THIS... Does a THOUSAND always equal 1000??

Our good friend Rick Sosebee wrote this article that brings up a good point about manufacturers fudging or rounding up actual engine displacement such as a 951cc claiming to be a 1000cc. In most cases I agree that we usually all know and understand its not a true 1000. What interested me was his insight into tire manufacturers fudging errrrr, lying and saying their tire is one size when in fact it could be almost 2" off when measured. To me thats a huge disappointment and goes beyond just a marketing tool to downright mis-leading customers.

Basterds. I know this to be true. My first UTV was a 2008 Teryx with 26" tires. I updated to 26" ITP Terracross tires later on and in putting the tires side by side, the new ITP's were substantially taller that the stock 26" tires?? Good article Joey!!

Tire manufacturers have been bad about this for years.Being in the automotive business I have always recommended that people dont mismatch tires at least on the same axle and never on AWD vehicles.
As far as motor displacement it seems that the american manufacturers are worse about this than the japanese manufacturers.I understand believing in your product but misleading customers is bad business in my opinion. In this day and age of corporate greed I dont see it changing anytime soon.

It's not such a big deal with engines as long as they meet the performance claims. For an example of gross exaggeration in the sxs industry, take a look at the stock tires on the 900 RZR. They claim 27in. When you put a 26in Bighorn next to one, the stock tire is 2in shorter than a 26in Bighorn. Nice.
