Official UTVUnderground 2014 BITD The Mint 400 Photos / Story / Results

Great coverage, without UTVUG there would be virtually nothing out there.
We're having a great time getting top ten finishes in basically a stock wildcat. With the current races getting a 50% attrition rate do we really need more miles?

Thanks for the support guys!

In the afternoon I was able to do so much from the helicopter for the big race that we are thinking of working it out to where I can go in the bird for the UTVs from now on and do coverage from the air. This might help me see more of you to know whats going on but even then I think the best knowledge I get is from the pits and teams themselves.

I'm going to apologize right now, because what I am about to say is going to make some people upset. ROTR asked, why we need more miles? The answer is , because this is desert racing, which is basically endurance racing, dealing with the terrain and elements. Where the amount of miles are now, makes it a sprint type race. I mean, if a racer has a flat, basicly he can kiss his chance of making the podium goodby. Also, how are we (utvs) to be taken seriously as a class, if we only run half the race.

Ray, nothin to apologize about. I think all of us agree with you. However, I also think 2 laps is pretty hard on a UTV, proving this was the finish rate.

With that said, I wholeheartedly agree that our races need to be longer for us to 1. get respect and 2. to level the playing field for all. This is desert racing and it should require some endurance just like V2R, the Baja 500 or Baja 1000.

I will end my comment with this.. Brandon Schueler suffered a severe flat tire and STILL won! You can see it in this photo

Sent from a PRC-117 held together by boot bands and hopeful thinking

Thanks for the photos and great coverage Joey and Rusty! See you at Silver State! Watch out boys, I almost have this new Maverick figured out.....;)

It was a shorter race but definitely tough and I think most teams atleast suffered a flat. Many of the top trophy truck teams were having issues by the 2nd lap.

Thanks for the props on the story and photos.. I had to make some revisions.. I had lost many brain cells on Thursday night.. lol

The course is short at 100miles long, but with that many vehicles it goes to crap fast. Add in some high stress speed zones and you are bound to put a hurt on your car!

Joey, awesome coverage, and I want to congratulate to jx team for a great win. This was a tough race, and my earlier comment was not meant to make it seem like it wasn't.

My opinion on the distance is really irrelevant since I don't race anymore but if I did I might be able to do a 200 miler at my age (61) and condition, but could never finish a 400 miler. Yes there are some older folks doing long races but it's a younger person's sport and longer races will keep it that way.

Nice coverage Joey!

Awesome Joey! See, that's all we asked for:D. BTW, we're going out for more testing tomorrow, and based on the helicopter footage, I will now make an adjustment or two in the rear of the car and be able to test that as well.
The Badass Mav has a badass buck  in the rear that needs my attention. Thanks for the footage. And here I thought you were just a Schlomaris whore Lol!!

Real thanks should be to FOX and Blue Torch Fab for providing me the resources to pay Mad Media for the time it took to edit another piece!
