Official UTVUnderground 2013 BITD Vegas To Reno PHOTOS & RESULTS

If anyone has any of our GoPros please send to the address above.. lol I think we have a few out there..

Congratulations to the Murray's! Kudos to Cognito Motorsports and Jagged X for beating the rest of us "stragglers". We'll try again next time!

Great shots and coverage as usual Joey!! I cant wait too see the Copter kids footage from just before pit 8!! Reid thanks for the kind words sir! Were looking forward to seeing your team again at the Blue Water Desert Challange!!

Reid what happened to you guys... I never saw you again after we left Pit 3 area..

Started out with a flat tire in the dust of the first couple of miles. Then shortly after that, we hit a motorcycle that was stopped in the middle of the course in the 'silt storm'. I guess Marc saw him at the last second and cranked the wheel hard left. Tore off his foot peg, and gutted our second tire! Then, we dealt AGAIN with fuel delivery problems. All race. Every 50 miles or so, we'd lose fuel pressure (not a vapor-lock problem. We over came that after the 500). It would sideline us for up to a 1/2 hour each time it reared its ugly head. Then, we our clutch failed just after pit #10. Finally, at pit #13 (I think around RM475) we lost our motor, and called it quits. That was around 11 p.m., if I remember correctly. Did your "pass alert" device that IRC provided work for the entire race? Ours didn't. Batteries, I think. CONGRATULATIONS for being the recipient of the beer! Did The Murray's come through? I CAN say though that we passed the Murray's like they were standing still (on the side of the road, getting a ticket on the way home. We honked and waived as we passed. Guys just can't slow down!!)

Glad to hear all the guys that finished, I started off the race in our 1915 one gear racing car and we started out very good and the car was doing perfect, our clutching was a little
Off and didn't have full power we wanted but it was still running perfect... We worked our way to the front pretty early and got some fresh air which I'm sure everyone wanted... We felt our belt slipping a tiny but at mile 116 so we backed off a little to get to pit 4 mile 156 where I got out of the car... I got out of the car while they team threw in a new belt just to be safe.. The car was running awesome.. My second driver got in and unfortunately just before pit 5 he got in the dust and ripped the right front corner of the car and took us out of the race... I feel confident the car was running rock solid and would have taken us to the end for a strong finish... Glad to finally meet alot of you guys and glad to hear of everyone's success...

Kevin, you made the RDC video around the 1:20 mark.

Not exactly sure how your fuel system is set up but this insight may help a little bit. Our pump pushes fuel through very quickly through the rail, into the regulator and back into the tank. We are running a 22 gal tank but still were losing pressure on long or hard left turns with 10-12 gallons left. With the fast flow any quick time that the pickup is out of the gas it pushes the rail dry. This also creates a major risk for vapor locking. We re-situated the tank in our car to be tilted forward with the pick-up in the front. Trying to avoid the pick-up ever being out of the fuel. You can also go with a dual pickup system. Some builders told me your pump should not be above the tank in any way either, this can quickly and easily cause vapor lock. We ran the lines down along the tank and installed the pump there below our fuel line to create a syphon. No problems at the vegas to reno with it. Our 1945 car went with the in- tank pump on this one and they also did not have any issues.

Thanks for the props Joey! We were the last place finishers by long ways but you said it well about desert racing. True, we didn't get a trophy but a little button that says 2013 V2R finishers. May be small but worth it's weight in gold. Among all the other issues around 3:30am we sheared off a radius rod bolt and it was stuck in the heim. Another truck team out there jumped in with thier grinders and enthusiasm to get us back on the road. Absolutley love the offroad community bond when your out racing. Those guys treated me like I was thier racer, I really just stood there as they were all rolling around under the car and running to thier trucks to get parts. After 26 1/2 hours at the wheel the car and myself wern't in great shape but I would do it again in a second. Coming from short course it's impossible to explain the awe striking beauty, trials, problems, experiences, and satisfaction that comes with desert racing. Can't wait for the 1000 and a huge thank you to the other teams out there that helped push us to a finish!!
