New 2014 Teryx Race build

New 2014 Teryx Race build
Couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to run a Kawasaki Teryx for Team Green!

last year while talking to Brian at Long Travel Industries at the SSSS looking at his new T2 build and about how strong my 2012 WORCS Championship Teryx was. that I could have turned around and ran the whole series again with total confidence that the car would not fail me.

Brian and I talked about building a new Teryx for desert racing, relying on the Teryx's structure to handle abuse, the right long travel kit, Long Travel Industries, and continued forward momentum might be a winning combination.

So that brings us to today, I just received my new Candy Green Teryx and took the car to Thad's from Fabwerx, in my opinion the best utv race fabricator around. Thad had built my last three race UTVs and many many more extremely nice desert race cars recently and countless of some of the nicest built cars over the years.

Thad will do what he does to turn a solid and great car as the Teryx into a lean and mean race car in the next few weeks. I'm excited to see how he transforms it.

I will also be teaming up with my old race partner and friend Victor Herrera of Herrera Motorsport, as equal co drivers.

Some future plans

Long Travel
Complete race chassis with seat drop
Muzzy Exhaust
Custom Harmon Fuel Cell
PRP seats, nets & belts
Aluminum dash
Engine primarily stock: PCV, Muzzy. UMP intake, clutch mods and ?
and much much more as we confirm some sponsors.

The car will be raced in the Pure Side by Side desert racing series and a few larger races such as the Mint and Silver State with BITD

I will update pics as progress moves forward, I think this will be a lot of fun for us Teryx people.

After what I've seen Thad do with RZRs and Mavericks, this teryx will be another Fabwerx Masterpiece! Keep the UTV Porn pics coming!

Just received our new Muzzy Performance 2-1-2 exhaust system, came wrapped like a new baby and fit perfect. Love Muzzy products, nothing but the best going on this car.

We cut a lot of metal out of the car today, mainly seat mounts, with more coming out tomorrow.

Used a PRP mock up seat and set the seat at about 8" down, 4' back and 4" wider. Even 4" wider the seat still fits within the stock outer frame rail, this cars frame is pretty wide

SPR Racing would like to thank, Jose of Summers Brothers for their continued support..The new Teryx stock axles are huge, and with the upgrades by Kawasaki to the outer CV stub is a beefy package, with these 4130 axles that a tough combo, of course were going further with 300M race set on their way.

Seats and Steering on in, almost time for the fun stuff..

Sorry not much to report lately, just WAITING on parts, but I am excited to welcome PCI Race Radios on as a sponsor, the vast majority of serious racers run PCI and after having tooo many problems with radios from other companies I chose to seek out PCI, Scott was great and set me up with everything I need with high quality cables, the best intercom they have and a few other parts.

We just started fabrication on the chassis and should go quick, lots more pics coming soon

Making progress Thad had to help out a racer in need, so I did what I could, otherwise the car would be further along.

This thing is big, it has an unofficial nickname of "Lowfat" It really needs the long travel suspension the narrow stock stuff throws the whole car off.

Its been tough to figure out, its a new car and somewhat different from building a older Teryx.

We took a lot of unnecessary metal out of this car and are now adding new stuff back, I'm curious to see what it weighs all done. I can say for sure this is going to be one comfortable car to drive with the long travel, great Kawasaki power steering, huge seat area and leg room.

Major fab done...

Thad of Fabwerx removed the entire console and dash remaking it in aluminum. Its all been designed for quick removal and he also relocated the shifter.

Next week the parts start going on and the car should start coming together..couldn't be happier with Thad's skills!!!

Another hurdle complete. ..The stock fenders look good on the stock car, but didnt work in my mind on the race build...Thad at Fabwerx flowed the fenders into the sides with some aluminum work...car looks great in person and is really coming together..
