Looking for a R/C Traxxas?

Me and my buddies are looking to buy some RC's for this camping season. I have been looking into the Traxxas Slash but I dont understand the differences in them. I see them from 300 bucks to over 500. Can someone enlighten to to what the differences are and what we should be looking at buying. We all would like to buy the same kind (except me, I would like something a little faster without them knowing). There will be 5-6 of us...

We all had Helicopters but within 48 hours we all have had to order parts...

359.00 is standard price for the slash 4x4. I just bought 3 for the guys to beat on at my house. they really need nothing more except a lipo 2c batt and charger... you can always get a 3c or 4c but it is uncontrolable (mostly). the stock nicad batt is marginal. they take a hell of a beating...

order spare a-arms and axles...thats about all that we have broken so far...

the 500.00 special edition has upgraded shocks and shit like that..

Is the batt the largest difference? Is the 3c much better than the 2c?

Just got back from barrett jacson auction in scottdale they had the traxxas truck there and a bunch of cars doing demos. Flipping on a kick jump pretty cool.

7.4 volt battery = 2 cells x 3.7 volts (2S)
11.1 volt battery = 3 cells x 3.7 volts (3S

its not "better" its faster... they are both good..

depending on what you want to do. do you want to just bash?

if you want to bash just go pic up a 2wd slash. anything you might break can be rpm'ed and the truck can become un breakable

Nothing in the R/C world is unbreakable (I know what you are saying) and I say this as an R/C owner who has made numerous trips to the hobby store. RPM does make very high quality parts though.

The $300 is (might) be the basic 4wd version. if 6 of you are going to use them at the same time then you should get 2.4ghz to not interfere with one another. if you want to go faster then you probably have to get a lipo or a bigger and better battery then your friends. and if they use the stock traxxas battery and you get lipo then your slash will run longer and faster. But if you get a slash 2wd brushless 2.4ghz then tell your friends to get a brushed 2.4ghz slash.and yours will definetely go faster with a lipo. (but dont get cheap ebay ones!)! But if you guys just want to mess around with them (bash) you guys should probably get the 2wd version and might be a litter cheaper.

We want to go out and have fun with them. Like anything else we will probably do a little "rubbin". We will run them at the beach quite a bit. It doesnt have to be Traxxas just something fast and dependable. we will have to run to the parts store. We expect that. I was just looking and see the 1/16 scale and the 1/10. Is the larger one more fun?

Thanks... Whats the difference between the slash and the revo?

slash is a stadium truck

revo is like a bigfoot monster truck and will break much sooner.

if you want the best...buy a baja 5t...thats the shit!!!

heres a vid from 18 months ago with a go pro on the roof..

I think I am going to go with the slash. I'll leave it up the the other guys on what they want. It seems like the best for the playing around that we want to do. Any suggestions on where to buy?

i had a revo and beat the f#$% out of it we took it to a skate park a few times a week and hit quarter pipes with it had to replace left front a-arms once

I was saying that because he is gonna be thrashing with others and the exposed wheels are more likely to hit crap or the other revo's. The body on the slash helps protect it more when other cars are involved..

I also have the 2.5 nitro version of the revo and it has done very well, but it's alot more fun racing and rubbin without the exposed tires.

beat on em a little today in the backyard. As you can see they take the crashes pretty good..no broken parts today..

Ok.... I went to the hobby store today and bought the Slash 2wd. The low end one for 239 bucks. Been having a good time with it but already want a little more power. This is going to be like everything else I do. I by the cheap one and put twice the money into it. How much money is a LiPo battery and where would you suggest ordering it from....

The guy there had a Slash 4x4 with a new motor and speed controler. That thing was stupid fast. He couldn't keep it on the ground it kept trying to flip over backwards. He said they have a trade in deal. My motor and speed controler plus 129 bucks and I could have one that goes 60+ mph...

Should I do the trade in or just the LiPo?
