how reliable is stock 800 engine

Hey guys trying to gather some info for a friend of mine who's looking at getting a 08-10 rzr 800 and building a sleeper. How much boost can the stock engine take before reliability becomes an issue.

I have '12 800 with the K&T Kit. I've run 10 lbs for about a year without a single problem. I was told 10 was safe to run all day night.

Thanks merha82 for the info ill pass it on.I've done a google and utube search but there really isn't much about the 800

On that note I'm actually looking to sell mine, strictly because my son is getting older and a 4-seater is looking more appealing for that reason. Has HCR LT and some other goodies. Not sure where your buddy is with getting his project going. But none the less mine has been flawless honestly. Oil changes and some greasing sums it all up

He hasn't bought one yet he still in the researching faze but if you want you can pm me some pictures and a price and I could pass it on to him see what he says

You can spend a bunch of money on the 800 changing the crank and everything else but it will keep leaking at the head if you run higher boost. You could put a Z1 in the 800 and it would be fast and at least the engine would be reliable.

it will leak at the head if you go higher than 10lbs of boost or any amount of boost will cause this.sorry just want to make sure

No 10 lbs you will be fine. Anything over about 13 or 14 and you will start having problems. It may run for a trip of 2 but will start leaking at the headgasket.
