Something most people don’t know: All fiberglass helmets should be thrown away (preferably even destroyed), every 5 years, because the resins dry out and change the way it’s structure absorbs and disperses impact. Polycarbonate helmets, although much less expensive, last essentially forever. However, a good fiberglass helmet will absorb much more impact. In my opinion, polycarbonate helmets are extremely hazardous and should not even be considered for anything motorized and/or anything over 10 mph.
