All UTV's fox shocks

slimp-o

Slimp-o
I'm having a problem with the bottom of the spring getting up on top of the cradle it sits in. The first time it was my rear spring, turns out it had some slop in it. When i jacked up the car there was a inch of gap between the spring and shock housing. So when I jumped spring ended up on the lower cradle, when the car came down on it, it bent the spring. I got that taken care of, new spring and adjusted all the play out. Now I just saw that one of the front shocks did the same thing, only there was no play in the shock? Seems like there should be some cones inside around the shock rod to guid them back on the cradle? Anyone have any info, I'll try and get some pictures up this afternoon.

Not enough preload on the spring. Jack up the rig and screw the top rings at least 1/2" to 1" down. If you just screw them down till they touch you can still lift the spring off the bottom, the coil can bounce and compress if it does not have enough tension.

if you had that match gap at full droop, yet your ride height is good, then you have too stiff of a spring.
