This was the first time I serviced it after I bought it used. If I had to guess it was never serviced. If you mud you'll want to device it more often. I serviced it twice last summer and plan on servicing probably two to three times. I submerge mine in mud quite a bit.
 
I like to do mine every 500 miles, but I like stuff to preform at 100 %

Damn I would almost service every trip out at that rate. I run greaseless. I know that James has people running grease but I really don't want to mess with all that. I like greaseless. Wash out the dust every now and then and blow it dry. But I don't ride mud. All desert here.
