Desert Racing Rules 101 (Unwritten/Common Sense)

My bumper in that photo has bars that you can't see from the direct front of the car. It can not get hooked.

Uno mas "Guideline" or "Advice" a friend reminded me this weekend:

Don't buy the cheapest safety equipment so you can buy other shit for the car...

Buy a good NOMEX multi layer suit, a good HNR and Helmet as well as driving shoes and gloves. Don't cut corners on safety gear. Listen to what ART (RIP) always pushed as it makes sense.

A few more to add to the list with V2R here:

1) Wear your Helmet/HNR as a minimum when testing
2) Don't test or "Ricky Race" the access road in Barstow, it is an actual maintained road that a lot of douchebags have jacked up by testing on it. Drove by the other day and saw a UTV team running it
3) Hydrate or Die! Even when testing carry water as if the car breaks and you have to walk back it's a long, hot walk in summer...
4) When weekend testing, be aware of others and camps and don't do a flyby to show how cool you are. NEVER test w/o spotters with radios calling out cross traffic etc... You don't want to be the next accident to happen and despite the heat families on bikes, quads and non racers are all over the place out there
