Cv boots and boot clamps

So ever since the long arm kit, which I am very happy with, I have been struggling to keep the boots clamped onto the cv's. Have spent a fair share of time trying different things and after this weekends race, every single boot is off the cv and grease is everywhere. I have even tried letting the local dealer instal them and still no luck. Can anyone think of something I'm doing wrong or is it just the parts I'm using?!? Any ideas or help would be great! Thanks

cv clamps from napa work for me. the ones that use plier style have to buy that tool but you can buy clamps buy dozen. almost like the stock ones.if you can spin boot on cv when clamped then not tight enough.the cv clamps you wind up never had any luck with.

I stopped clamping the outer clamp and just running it and that works for me .

Since the boot builds up pressure it is important that the outside of the cv housing and the inside of the large end of the boot is 100% Grease free. By doing that it creates a very sticky seal, then make sure the cv band is tight. The seal around the axlel is loosely tightened with a zip tie, that way if it does build pressure it is released onto the axle.

I use .250 wide hose clamps if there is enough clearance for them. I dislike cv bands and banding tools.......You never really know if you got them tight enough. + you can reuse the clamp after you rebuild the cv.
100% correct on no grease where the cv flange and boot meet.

All good info. I've heard of some guys not even running a clamp on the axel side. And I don't have the clearance for hose clamps.
