Cognito Motorsports @ MINT400

The 2014 Mint400 offered Team CognitoMotorsports a real challenge for both Polaris RZR’s entered in the race. The course was rough with its deep silt, choppy sand washes, rock gardens, washouts, and gnarly whoops!

#1918 driven by Justin Lambert / Co. Justin Sheakly - their first problem came early in lap 1 after R/M15 with a flat running in the dust. The dust was thick, visibility was nearly zero, and with big rocks all over the place we were being patient for some visibility and a safe opportunity to pass. Leaving pit 1 in 24th with a fresh spare tire, Justin charged ahead pretty clean with no issues. Coming through the main pit in 7th place for fuel and a look over the car, things looked good to stay in the top 10. At R/M48 a 2nd flat tire plagued #1918, and shortly after at R/M52 a blown tranny stopped the pace for #1918. An hour later the car was towed by BITD Officials to a safe spot where the Cognito chase team had handed over a fresh tranny and tools to the Race officials. From there they were then handed to the #1918 drivers to perform the tranny swap in hopes of avoiding a DNF. Meanwhile, car #1991 of Rampage Off-Road had problems and is at the same safe spot as #1918. Car #1991’s Driver/co driver Jordan Hansen & Jim Osier realized car #1918 had a big task on their hands; so they jumped in and offered to help in the tranny swap. Another hour and a half later with a new tranny, car #1918 was led by an official back on course and finished the race in 17th spot before the cutoff time, avoiding a DNF.

BIG thanks to car #1991 drivers Jordan Hansen & Jim Osier of Rampage Off-Road! Without them it would had been tough finishing the race in time. THANK YOU!

#1946 driven by Kent Perkins & Christina Perkins had a great starting spot pacing the course with car #1919 of Jagged X, until R/M60 where they over-heated a belt and had to pull off for a quick change. At R/M86 car #1946 had a front CV shaft issue, and after a shaft swap and Christina Perkins at the controls, car #1946 finished the race before noon in 11th position.

Team Cognito Motorsports would like to thank our great sponsors - Polaris RZR - Fox Shox - Method Race Wheels - Rugged Radios - Sparks Racing - ITP Tires & Wheels - Rigid Industries - UTV Underground - Mystik Lube - DJ Safety - Summers Bros Racing - Wholesale Fuels - Valley Cycle
