Class Changes To The 2013 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is proud to announce that 2012 was another record year in team growth, television hours, sponsorship participation and spectator attendance. Total spectator attendance grew 13.3% in 2012. Our television package grew to become the second largest TV package in motorsports—second only to NASCAR. And, the 2013 television package will be even larger—with 212 total hours on five networks.

"To accommodate and continue this rapid growth, we are implementing several new measures that will streamline the series and create more entertaining professional racing. Based on overwhelming feedback from fans, we are going to focus the onsite experience around our most popular professional classes," said Series Director Ritchie Lewis.

Effective immediately, The SuperLite Championship Serieswill not be participating in the 2013 LOORRS race season. We welcome private owners of these newly named MiniLitevehicles to race in our rapidly expanding Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series.

We are also moving Limited Buggies to our Regional Series. In addition to racing for points in the Regional Series, Limited Buggies will also compete in the prestigious Lucas Oil Challenge Cup at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park on October 27, 2013.

Last year, spectator attendance at The Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series grew 74%. Driver entries in 2012 grew an incredible 94%. With the addition of MiniLites and Limited Buggies to our Regional Series, we are confident that driver entries and spectator attendance will again grow at double digit rates in 2013.

The Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series is our fastest growing series and affords teams the opportunity to compete in a more economical one-day racing format with significantly lower travel costs. Adding to the attraction of lower expenses, Limited Buggies will become the highest paid class in the Regional Series.

Finally, to accommodate the school schedules of our youngest drivers, there will be no Junior 1 or Junior 2 kart races at Reno or Las Vegas. This will also reduce travel expenses and allow Junior 1 and Junior 2 karts to focus their resources on the remaining six Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series events and any Regional Off Road events in which they want to participate.

Lewis elaborated, "We believe that this new weekend schedule for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series will help give the pits a more professional appearance and organized layout, while creating a better experience for the fans. It will also help us establish a standard footprint as we begin planning the eastward expansion to two new locations next year in 2014.

"Lucas Oil is committed to the growth of short course off road racing and has invested over $20 million since inception to improve, promote and grow the sport. As short course off road racing evolves, we will continually adapt and alter our strategy to accelerate that growth and increase the value for teams and sponsors. We believe that the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is on the verge of becoming a household name and we are investing heavily in 2013 to insure that the series grows in long-term stability, reach and value for everyone involved."

Yea Sean ! It's on a great growth path. The regionals are bringing over 2000 racers, fans, friends on a Saturday. With the SR1 class growing and the Stock XP9 Class making some noise, I think 2013 is going to a good year for UTV racing.
 
Question, what class do the new Wildcat X, Maverick, and new 1 liter cars coming from Honda, Yamaha, & now I hear Kawasaki race in?

What about the rumored new Polaris as well? I predict some serious class additions and restructuring once again in UTV racing by the beginning of the 2014 season.

We are hoping to grow to a P1- Production 1000 class. As far as making that happen we need numbers. The Powersports dealers can build a million different UTV's but until we see some solid numbers at the track then we will stick to the

Yesir. COORP in OR we run STOCK and UNLTD UTV's all together, scored seperatly. More cars might get more classes, but big classes make better racing.

We have seen minimal Production 700 or 850s show up to race. Not enough to make a class.

I believe out Unlimited UTV class will see major growth this year also.

i would say its hard to get cars to show up when theres not a class to promote. If you pumped a 800 production class i think it will grow.
