WOW what an event!!!
Jared, way to go!! This has to be hands down the best rally yet!!
I have a few people to thank out of the gate. First I want to thank Pitbull Tires! The 31x11.50 Growler R15 is one bad a$$ tire and crawled us through everything we pointed them at (even in 2WD), Race line and Jeff Knoll for some SICK prototype bead locks! We now have the badass rims to match the badass tires, SxS Performance for all the support and great deals (Mike you rock!!!) Jose at Summer brothers racing for the un-breakable 300m axles, King shocks for making the best shock on the market and Rosey’s Powder Coating for the bling that makes everything nice and green!!!
What a trip, 21 hours of driving to get us into Moab at the OK RV park (best camp ground in Moab!). we started off running Steel bender on Monday to warm up and what a blast… I never get tired of climbing the waterfall. Tuesday we tried to do Poison Spider Golden Spike but my old carburated Teryx just wasn’t going to let us… Killed the battery trying to get it started after it flooded out on the trail head. Spent the remainder of that day tuning and talking with Kurt at Muzzy trouble shooting the problem (stuck choke cable). Wednesday we set out for the first trail of the rally Fins and things, and wouldn’t you know it I blew the front diff out on the first steep rock ledge I could find!! Ran the rest of the trail in 2wd. I thought I was going to go back to camp and fix it after but to my dismay it was a carrier ring and I had no way of repairing it. So we decided to run it till it blew up LOL!! Thursday we walked Hells Revenge that is always a fun easy day… Friday we hit Moab Rim and had to try and use 4wd twice once on the devils crack and the other on the Z- bend other than that we had it in 2wd and it was doing just fine. Saturday and the last day of the rally we did Cliffhanger. At this point our front diff had totally let go the gears were jammed and I was certain the case was a total lose… still holding oil we hit the trail and I am happy to say we ran the trail beginning to end in 2WD with no assist!
Thanks to all our friends for a good time! We are looking forward to next year already… here are some pic’s
Cheers,
Brett and Katie
