BITD Bluewater Desert Challenge/Parker, AZ (10/13-14/12)- The Can-Am / Desert Toyz Racing Team of Cory Sappington and new teammate Eric Fitch (the “secret weapon”) secured a second place overall finish at the Best in the Desert Bluewater Desert Challenge, finishing 4-3 in the two day event. Murray Motorsport’s Team of Jason and Derek Murray, secured the fourth spot on day two and finished fifth overall.<O:p</O:p
The Bluewater Desert Challenge was held in Parker, Arizona. The weather was perfect for racing, with clear skies and temps in the 80’s for both days. Despite some rain showers leading up the race, the track was still extremely dusty, which greatly reduced visibility for those battling for position.<O:p</O:p
The UTV racing kicked off each morning before sunrise with the racers lining up for a 6:15AM start, which meant for some early mornings for the teams. The race track was 25 miles long with three laps of racing each day for a combined total of 150 miles of racing over the two day period.<O:p</O:p
On Day one, Cory Sappington and Eric Fitch finished in the fourth spot, and his Desert Toyz Can-Am team was in the hunt for a podium finish. They finished less than 2 minutes behind the second place team after over two hours of racing. Murray Motorsports finished in the fifth spot, but were nearly 14 minutes behind the Sappington. They suffered a tire failure, but despite having to stop and repair the tire issues, the Murrays were still able to secure a top five finish out of the fourteen UTV racers competing in the Pro UTV class.<O:p</O:p
On day two, Sappington and Fitch raised the bar with a third place finish, which secured the Desert Toys/Can-Am team a second place finish for their second time this season. Sappington gave Fitch the drivers seat for day two. This was Fitch’s first time racing in the desert and the first time racing a UTV. The Murray Motorsports/ Can-Am team secured the fourth spot for the day and finished fifth overall for the weekend. The top five finish keeps Murray Motorsports team in the series points lead by a margin of 4 points heading into the final round of the season in December. <O:p</O:p

you ment to say he is leading the points by 4points over the coastal team. murray has to beat coastal or finish right behind not to lose overal.

Great job Cory!! You guys ran clean and fast. Way to pull of the 2nd. Henderson is going to be some fun in December. Cant wait!

Wow so much hype about Poolaris and the Can Am boys are ahead in points. Way to go guys. Desert racing is all about keeping the car together while running fast and to keep out in front the whole season is awesome. It's great to see all of you guys out there kicking azz. Way to come back from a nasty spill last race Cory.
The Poolaris guys have done great but it is awesome to see some competition, especially from a home grown team.
