“BLACK RHINO/RACERX MOTORSPORTS’ DRIVER’S RACE REPORTS FROM ROUND 6 OF LORORSâ€
10/21/13 El Cajon, CA – Round 6 was the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series Shootout. Drivers from all over the West came out to Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park battle it out and determine once and for all, who was the best! Championships were on the line, and so was pride!
KENNY “FROSTY†FROST #876 SR1
“Had a great weekend at the final race of the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series! After qualifying 5th out of 18 and inverting the top 6 I was starting outside, 2nd row. I got a good jump only to have a yellow false start and have to do it again. I got a fair start and ran 4th most of the race but as far back as 8th. I remember saying to myself, “I can run with these guys.â€
With another car crashing out I found myself in 7th with a “green, white, checker†to go. We had one more false start and then we were off! I set one car up in the rhythm section and saw Brandon Blyth bike it in the last turn. I cut low but came up short to finish 6th.
No regrets, I gave it all I had at the time.
I would like to thank the following for their support; Black Rhino, RacerX Motorsports, GMZ Tires, Rigid Industries, K & N Filters, Weller Racing, Layton Kramer and a very special thanks to Kenny Osborn, the Osborn Family and Jessie Morgan. Thank you all very much!â€

GARY THOMPSON #2 SR1

“Was a great weekend at Elsinore! In qualifying I was taken out and broke so unfortunately I started 14th in the main. I was able to work my way up to a 3rd place podium finish. Not too bad out of a field of 32 with 16 SR1s. In the end I won the Championship!â€

STEVE “WHEELS†BUCARO #69 PILOT
“First I was using Chris Watts’ Honda Pilot since I had blown my motor the previous weekend. During the heat race I was getting a feel for his car and checking out track conditions. Unfortunately, during the main I had a slight problem when I accidentally hit the on/off switch during the mandatory caution. One lap later the belt on the car let go so I was out a few laps shy of finishing the main.
I had sealed my 3rd Championship in the Lucas Oil Regionals. It was a great year and I thank all my sponsors, my Mom, Aunt Nancy, Jerry, Jerry Sr, Billy, Krystle, Chris and all those who continue to make this happen! Thank you all and see you in Feb!

CODY RAHDERS #716 XP900
Cody Rahders piloted his UTVunderground/FOX/Magnum Offroad Polaris RZR XP900 to the win at Round 6 of the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series and clinched the 2013 RZR XP900 Class title as well.

Starting the season out with a string of 2nd place and one 3rd Cody was able to win Round 5 of the series and moved into the points lead with a 2 point cushion so going into Round 6 the strategy for the title was simple, win.
The day started out with a five lap qualifier where Cody laid down a sub one minute lap time to win qualifying and extend his points lead to 3 going into the main event. "To win the title, with a 3 point lead I could play it safe and finish right behind second in points but I’d rather just go out and win, then I don't have to worry about it at all."
For the main the start was inverted four positions placing Cody outside of row two and when the green flag flew he managed to pass the leaders by turn two and checked out leading the 12 lap main with a wire to wire win and clinching the XP Class title.
"I felt good, the car ran great, Fox had my shocks dialed, and even with two races on them my ITP tires were still hooked up. I just got out front and laid down laps. My spotter was even telling me to slow down at one point but that can be risky so stayed in it until I saw the checkered."

Cody Rahders and R3motorsports would like to thank the following for their support during the 2013 season; Polaris, UTVunderground.com, Fox, Magnum Offroad, ITP Tires, Muzzys Performance, K&N FIlters, K1 Race Gear, Method Wheels, RacerX Race Radios, Black Rhino, Sparks Racing, Starting Line Products, SFI Design, Lucas Oil, Team Alba, Frosty Burger Pine Valley. Special thanks to Crew Chief Troy Patterson, Nick Novak, Kevin Sullivan, Jonathan Kelly, and my mom and dad.
Cody’s next race will be the LOORRS season finally at Lake Elsinore on October 26th & 27th racing the Black Rhino RacerX Toyo Tires V8 ProLite race truck.. To see more of Cody Rahders visit https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cody-Rahders-Racing/240033476073270
ROGER DIAZ #785 RZR
“This weekend was a great end to my rookie season! I didn't practice Friday to save the car, unfortunately Saturday I qualified 10th as I was bouncing off the rev limiter. I was fortunate to get trackside help from Nate from Alba Racing to adjust my clutch weights quickly and get ready for the main.
In the main I was able to run a few consistent laps before I got bucked in the rhythm section. I had to get off the trophy kart track and back onto the right track so I lost a few spots with that mistake. Otherwise, I ran my most consistent race and had excellent restarts thanks to my spotter Dan.
I was able to work my way up to 6th with 2 laps to go when I wasn't able to hold off the RZR behind me and ended up finishing 7th. It's been an up and down season learning the ropes but I am already excited looking forward to next season.

I would like to thank my biggest supporters; My girlfriend Kate, Crew Chief Dan Cullum, and my parents for getting my racing from dreams to reality. A huge thank you to Steve at Makin Trax Suspension for getting me dialed in through the season; he put a lot of time helping me and I appreciate it so much. Thank you to John at IMG Motorsports for fixing the bent frame in less than 24 hours and getting me to round 4 which ended up being my best finish of the season! Nate at Alba Racing for getting dirty at this race to help get my clutch setup and for his previous help with getting the setup right. Thank you also to the Black Rhino/Racer X crew for getting me setup up in time for the season and giving me pit support; it was a fun year with them. Thank you to the Cody Radhers race team; their help towards the end of the season has been so helpful. Thank you to Jason at Raceline Wheels, Leo at Twisted Stitch, and Mark at Desert Molding Concepts. Without everyone I would not have been able to score points at every round and have such a good season. Thank you so much and already getting started on getting the RZR better and lighter with some more support for 2014! See everyone at the races!
Thank you to all my sponsors: Makin Trax Suspension, Black Rhino/Racer X, IMG Motorsports, Alba Racing, Raceline Wheels, Twisted Stitch Seats, Desert Molding Concepts, Rockwell Watches.â€

DAVID NAGY #680 UTV
Friday October 11th Practice Day: Arriving at the track is always such a great feeling. It’s kind of like when you were 7 years old and you couldn’t wait to go check and see what Santa had left you under the tree. Steve Beilman, Wayne Matlock and I arrived around the same time, we unloaded and drove our UTV’s over to Tech. After passing Tech inspection while driving back to my pit my engine started to cough and backfire. I knew right away this was bad…real bad! I immediately got on my cell and called Richie Morel, my mechanic at Alba Racing in Santee. He explained I had to get the car to him back in San Diego. My practice day was over before it began and if I didn’t get my car back to Richie my race would be over too. I borrowed a flatbed trailer from a kind stranger who didn’t think twice about letting someone he just met take his trailer to San Diego. I arrived around 4pm and Richie did what Richie does. Turns out I had a valve guide go bad. Richie replaced them all and by 9:00 pm I was on my way back up to race. I can’t say enough about Richie and the gang at Alba Racing for staying late on a Friday (again!) to make sure I could race the next day.

Saturday September 7th Race Day: 11am and its time to qualify, I have butterflies in my stomach again but, unlike the last race, I have a renewed sense of confidence thanks to the suspension tweaking Bob Bell from Precision Concepts Racing did to my Fox shocks and the motor work done by Alba Racing. Since this was the end of the year “Shoot Out†the entries for our class went from the usual 6 or 7 to 13 or 14. This meant more traffic on the track and more accidents. We spent most of qualifying under Yellow but, I got enough good laps in to qualify 5th. The top five are within a second of each other and the whole group is within two seconds of each other. This should be a good race!
Race Time: The parade laps are done and the green flag drops. Within a couple of laps I work my way up to third place and I’m feeling really good. Thanks to Precision Concepts and Alba Racing the car is a part of me, I don’t have to think, I can just drive. The RZR does what I ask without question. Man does it feel good! I fly over the table top and brake hard going into the 90 degree right hander… the back end steps out, Noooooo, I slide out and my front tires stop against the retaining wall, I can’t get it into reverse!!!! Crap, crap, I need to get backed up! The flag crew has to push me back, okay she goes into gear. I’m off but I’m half a lap from the pack! I don’t care, I didn’t come this far to give up (I will say it is strange being in a race, yet there’s no one anywhere near you)…just as the full course yellow comes out I catch the pack…6 laps to go, I’m still in it. Green flag!!! I start working my way through the crowd, 12th, 11th, 10th, four laps down and I’m back in third! Coming around the last turn before the strait away, fourth slides under me and takes back third, Damn!, WHITE FLAG!!! Last lap, were almost side by side going down the strait, I can get under him in turn one, yes I can get him, we bump tires!!! My car flips!!! As I flip through the air and crash I can hear Nate Martinez my spotter screaming in my ear through the headset, NO!, NO!, NO! I come to a stop, I’m on my side…my race is over DNF (did not finish). This is not how I pictured this ending. While I was hoping to get back on the podium for the last race, it wasn’t meant to be.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: I had a great time this year racing with my friends and I learned many valuable lessons. Thanks again to everyone who helped especially Nate Martinez and Richie Morel from Alba Racing; Bob & Diane Bell at Precision Concepts Racing for getting the most out of my shocks; Chuck De Went from Action Powder Coating; Tim Neidhardt & Eric Ridens at Race Edge for the awesome fabrication work; everyone at Black Rhino/ Racer X Motorsports; Gregory Scott Row & Wayne Matlock for your invaluable advice and support in preparing me for the Lucas Oil Off Road Regionals.
DYLAN WINBURY #694 UNLIMITED UTV
Dylan Winbury walked away with a 1st place podium finish in the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series Shoot Out on Saturday Oct. 12, 2013.

On the restart Winbury was passed for first place. “On the final lap I knew what I needed to do in order to win. I got a great run on the inside line going up the step up table top going into turn two and in the air
I made the pass and never looked back crossing the finish line in 1st Place. I'm bummed the season is over. I was just getting started. I can't wait for next season. Thank you too all my family, friends and sponsors; Wagon Burner Motorsports, Black Rhino, Magnum Off-Road, UTVUnderground, Famous Stars and Straps, Hiper Wheels and thank you Shirl for all that you do.â€
