I think the turbo would be a help on a shorter race. But it is more parts to go wrong and lot more heat to figure out how to deal with. That Twin Turbo trophy truck Danzio has been racing I don't think has set the world on fire quite yet.

A turbo engine brings on a whole other set of issues to address for a long high speed race.

Pretty sure Danzio had a good performance at V2R though.
 
Some food for thought. Its only a 14hp difference between the turbo can am and the xp1k. But what is the wieght difference between the 4 seaters.since that is what seems to be the popular platform. Im sure the can am is heavier.

I don't think the xp racers are all that worried. I imagine the pro xp racers are all making similar hp to the turbo Maverick.

I agree let the desert sort it out. As I said before you can have all the hp you want. It does not matter if the rest of the car is not built to handle it.
 
BITD just made forced induction legal in tt and 1500 last year, very few racers have explored this option. Not sure why? At some point I'm sure oem turbos will be the norm in utvs and surely the desire to race them will force pressure on the rule makers. Ultimately the promoter wants entry numbers so we will see what happens.
