Looks like we are going to make this trip for the first time. Are there any gates to get through? Can I get there on Thursday? Trying to avoid Friday traffic......

no gates. no fees. its the easiest place you will ever get to. I won't be there til Friday afternoon, and not sure if anyone will be there Thursday. If you are the first one there, the staging area is a huge asphalt parking lot with two very clean pit toilets. You can park your rig in there however you like. If you want to go exploring, the trail head is at the top of the staging area.
