Many people have complained and thrown in their opinion on this topic in various threads. The 2016 UTV rule book is now available on the UTVRA website. I was not that surprised by the content. I can see benefits and negatives to the new classes. For me and the xpWarrior team it can be an opportunity to end the season higher in the class standings with the majority of fast cars in another class. Of course that means we didn't really compete with all those fast cars and kinda sucks.
I do have a question and wonder if anyone has the answers or if they question the same things.
Does the Pro Unlimited class have a points champion, payback and all that like the other two pro classes? The rules do not specify. I would like to see the class start to move in a direction that the unlimited class has the fastest cars just like the other classes in off-road. I would love to see up to 80" wide UTVs with motor work and no restriction on electronics (ECU). Cars that aren't irrelevant in a year because the chassis can continue to be used and power plants change with the needs of competitive progression. In my opinion that is where the most potential for the turbo and n/a cars is. Our team plans on building another car soon and this is definitely what we would like to do. Sure would save us a whole lot of money in the long term.
Until the dust settles and the year progresses with the Pro Turbo class and Pro Production (N/A) class fighting for supremacy, we will just sit back and hope some other racers feel the same way.
