SC #6 – Dec 9-10 – THE FINAL!
A note about our SuperCourse schedule: We again scheduled our events on Saturdays so as to not conflict with the D-37 events (mostly on Sundays) or the Big 6 GPs (first weekends of the month). We’ve also worked around other major events in the desert and in off-road. We could not find a 2011 USDR schedule of events so we are taking the dates that we’ve had (for the most part) all these years. Length and distances are all still to be determined. We do anticipate to have at least two (2) 50-mile lap events, two (2) 30-mile lap events and two (2) 15-mile lap, 2 hrs. events. IRC Travel Tracker will still be required.
2011 TRAC’N SERIES:
TR #1 – Apr 8-9
TR #2 – Jun 10-12 (night race – starts 8 p.m.)
TR #3 – Aug 5-7 (night race – starts 8 p.m.)
TR #4 – Sep 16-18
TR #5 – Nov 4-6
TRAC’N events have been scheduled so that they do not conflict with any major off-road events, including SCORE, BITD, MORE, SNORE, and others. However, it’s not always possible to maintain such schedule and it could change during the year. IRC Travel Tracker will still be required. Everyone must have a programmable GPS unit in the vehicle.
For this first year, we will set aside one day (ONLY) to pre-run the event. That date will be the Saturday before the event (one week earlier) and we will upload the official course to all entrants who are paid for the event. Pre-running WILL NOT BE OPEN to everyone. The idea is to give everyone the opportunity to “practice†reading the GPS and terrain. This is the future folks if you want to keep racing in the Southern California deserts. Cal City has 203 square miles of pristine and manageable desert and we want to keep it that way, yet make it enjoyable for others to enjoy and race.
POKER RUN FUN 2011
#1 – May 28th These are just fun events all in the desert.
#2 – Nov 12th Great prizes and good camaraderie
These are really FUN events and a chance to bring the entire family and friends and those who support your racing program for a great day in the Cal-City desert.
SPECIAL EVENTS:
1st ANNUAL CALIFORNIA CITY GRAN PRIX – The Return of a Classic – Mar 18-20.
We will start in the city and use either of two courses, one being almost 20-miles long and the other being 18-miles long. One course will start on the south-west part of the city; while the other may start on the eastern part of the city.
This event is endorsed by the City of California City. While it does not replace the Adelanto Gran Prix, it will bring back the same excitement and competition that the Cal-City GP of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s used to provide. This is the first such event since 1993.
1st ANNUAL “JET-RAID -2- PAPAS & BEER†-- ENSENADA, ROSARITO & BACK – Jul 22-24 9 (Watercrafts only)
With the new government in place, new mayor and tourism director (all friends of ours) who have taken the reins for the city and state, we will return to Baja and specifically Ensenada for a once a year absolutely fantastic endurance event for watercrafts. All competitors MUST HAVE a navigable GPS which can follow the “virtual†course down the Pacific. They must also have an IRC Travel Tracker which can be rented.
1ST ANNUAL ENSENADA GP – “NAIL THE CANAL†– Oct 7-9 (Bikes, Quads & UTVs only)
We used to put on many GP events in Ensenada and in all of Baja. The city wants us back and we are willing to bring a once a year (annual) MONSTER of a Gran Prix (GP) for bikes, quads and UTVs. However, Ensenada has grown to such proportions that areas where we used to lay out great courses are practically gone. But we have found the “Canal†that takes racers out and brings them back from some of the off-road racers. We will use such canal to lay out a 15-mile (+ or -) terrific GP course where thousands of people can perch themselves along the canal and watch the event as it unfolds. This “Classic†event is sure to draw many racers from all over the United States and Baja.
IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY WHILE IN BAJA, rest assured that we and the government are working on ways to secure your travel to Baja and enjoy what Baja is all about. For those of us who have been traveling there for over 40 years, it doesn’t seem necessary but we realize that there are many new people who would like to go there but are concerned with all the problems that are published in the newspapers and mass media. Again, the government and us will do everything we can to make your travel into Baja as safe and as fun as it has been for us for the past 40 years!
