Problems with Fullerton Sand Sports??

I'm not bashing.. Just curious if anyone else has had issues with Fullerton. I've always heard and read nothing but good things about them.
Dave went into a lot of detail discussing my options on tires for my SR1 for the sand before I ordered. He talked me into the STU PRO wider Blaster tires with the taller #2 paddles. I asked about heights and widths so I could build my car accordingly. He said my paddles would be roughly 28" tall and he recommended leaving enough clearance for 29" of a tire from my body. As for the fronts, he said I could expect a slightly taller smooth buff then my paddles. He said that they like to match the front tires to the rear and go a little taller in the front so I could expect 28" or a little taller fronts which is good because I wanted tall tires.
Now my omf billet center wheels and tires come In yesterday after 2 months of waiting and they have non pro blasters on the rear(obviously a mistake by them) and my fronts are 26" tall when aired to 10 psi.
Now I call Fullerton and Joe, the dad, explains to me that somehow they must have sent me the wrong rears... That's fine, I understand! But then he begins to tell me that 26" fronts is as big as they have all the sudden. Now that is a bunch of BS! I know that they accidentally sent me smaller non PRO tires and correctly matched a smaller set of buffs to those tires, But to tell me that these are as big as they make when Dave already carefully explained their tire height matching process to me and that is what sets them apart from other sand tire companies... Well that just sux! I hope they take care of me and stop trying to BS me into keeping what I got! When you pay $3000 for wheels and tires you would hope that you could get taken care of... But Joe Fullerton seemed to only want to argue with me earlier and told me he would call back in an hour with an answer. It's now been 3 hours... No call.....

Talked to Fullerton again... I believe they are going to pay to have my wheels shipped back and give me the right rear paddles and taller fronts I hope. They are supposed to let me know tomorrow for sure.

Yeah all I really have to say about Fullerton at this point is they were a lot nicer to deal with when they were trying to sell me wheels and tires.... In the end I think they will fix the problem. When I originally ordered they told me 3 to 4 weeks until I would receive them, being that it took almost 2 months, you would think they would have double checked my order. I just hope they get back to me before the car is complete.

Thanks for the heads up. Yea from what I have read about them they seem to be great but it does not always work out that way. Hope you get all tuned up to what they stated they would sell. Let us know.

Talked to Dave at Fullerton earlier. He was very helpful and seemed very positive that I will be taken care of 100%!!! Cudos to them and I can't wait to get my new wheels and tires on!!

Yeah they are top notch company, Dave went out of is way to GIVE a new XP roll gage and I barely know the guy. My rim and tire order has been flawless altho I questioned his rim recommendation he was right and knows his stuff. Anyone that has followed my post over the past year knows I hate being wrong lol, I don't say that about many vendors whether you give me a roll cage or not :D

Dave surely does know his stuff about tires & wheels and I'm sure you will get taken care of. Not sure what kind of radiator you are going to run but when I tried the #2 paddles mine was running a little on the hot side. I loved the way they hooked up but didn't like how hot it ran so I got rid of them.

I think the set up they sent you is MORE than enough tire for an r1 car. Just ask them to refund the difference and rock em. I run a 10 paddle extreme scat. It could us a little more...but not blaster Pro more. Your x-plane is going to make a little more torque, but I dont think you are going to be near the gear ratio Im running.;)

PS...have a little patience and speak to the person that sold you the product to get the situation resolved before going straight to the forums to post:)

I agree with you on patience and believe me, on this build I have had more than one business that was hard to work with... I usually keep my mouth shut and hope it works out for the best. I guess what set me off here was my anticipation and Dave's dad Joes old school ways. As for my tire and gearing choice, I carefully explained what I wanted to Dave and pro #2s was what he recommended... I'm running 5 to 1 gear ratio with 12 front and 60 rear...
Hopefully it works out to be a good choice... I may need to leave room for an even bigger rear sprocket later???

I'm going to be running the big radiator that Weller sells... I have pics of it in my build thread on page 12. I hope it is enough to cool the engine.

Dave reccomended a similar set up to me, I come from sand Drag stuff and all our competition ALWAYS over paddled their machines...a mistake we were careful not to make. Whether your duning or dragging on this type of applacation keeping the wheel spin and rpm's up is a must....I think based on my set up 2 more paddles would be on the verge of TOO much. My gear ratio is 6:1:)

Hmmmm? Most will do anything they can to get WHP to the ground, all kinds of things you can do other than getting rid of tires that hook up to make her run cooler.

Well I guess if I end up being way over paddled I'll be shopping for a turbo lol!

Hell with that I can get you a good deal on a high by-pass turbofan jet engine air cooled 33,000 ft lbs thrust. You be going so fast all you need is buffed floaters all fours. :D

Sorry you have had some issues with FSS.

I have just ordered my STU Blasters and front smoothies a few days ago. I have to say both Dave and Joe were very good to deal with. They provided me tons of info and were willing to talk with me at length. They are a small successful business and I think sometimes try and do too much for folks. People like me get a little anxious as these are big purchases (dropping $350 per on rear paddles) so I expect quick service. The reality is this is their business and they are calm and relaxed about it when I want urgency. I think that is my problem not theirs. Returning calls takes them a day or two but they usually do get back and supply great customer service.

I eagerly await my order because my next trip to Glamis is in a few weeks.:)

In follow-up to my previous post. I received my order 3 days after making it. The guys at FSS rock! Thanks Dave and Joe.
