Murray Racing #1917 is in the process of building our new Can Am Commander to race the 2011 Season. Murray Racing has teamed up with Desert Toyz to run the Can Am Commanders in the BITD series for 2011 and a few other select races. This alliance will assist with race fabrication, prep, parts, logistics, and exposure for our great sponsors for the season. Corry Sappington with Desert Toyz and Jason Murray with Murray Racing will be completing this build. This entire build will be aired live on this site, and at www.murrayracing.com Let us know if you have any questions, or ideas, who knows they might end up in the build! The live feed has been acting up today as we are getting the bugs worked out, but should be good shortly. Had to have the IT guy change some settings to stay live.:D

Nice! With all the changes in the industry, we thought we might as well take the builds to new level and open it up! We're open to any live questions!

Is Justin going to come over and measure your frame to make sure it is legal. JK (Sorry...I just had to). :p

Funny!:D It may be a good idea. We thought we would open this up so anyone can stop by anytime. We will post Pics too. Its only been a few hours and just about to the frame.

Day 2 - Frame was sent out to get sand blasted, and now back at it getting it strengthened and ready to cage up Friday! Should start to come together nicely!

Cory I hope the guy that grinding on the frames doesn’t work for you or your worker comp is in jeopardy of going up. He cutting & grinding on the frame with no safety glasses. Cool live video thou.

Hey Bobby that guy does work for me, you know I am a one man show. He is one of the owners of the Commander I am building. This my new build it your self program and he does have his safety glasses on. I did have to give him socks so he would wear shoes instead of his flip flops! Those socal guys are kind of funny that way. Thanks for tuning in.

so is this cage going to be legal cause the last one was not in my interpitation of the rule there was no cross brace or an "x" behind the heads of the driver and co-driver

Hey HDRA are you frickin kidding me! Nobody has crashed a race UTV harder than me. My UTVs are built to be safe and strong. I have proved that more than once. :D

I think Lucas was referring to the 'rules' not experience.

Good luck with the build. :)

yes sir that was it

crashing things i know you have you almost hit me when you crashed once you landed in my pit and knocked your wife out

So Lucas should I now announce to all BITD UTV racers that if they show up to race and they do not have a single diagonal brace connecting to oppisite cornners than they can not race. I am sure there have been many UTVs that have raced with BITD with the same design as my Commander.

I was asking the question, cause the rules state that it needs to be there you wrote the rule! So does it not apply to what you build???? and you can say for the builds that are not right, "hey this needs to be fixed or you will not race the next time" make a note of it have the DOR sign it, and go from there. You are supposed to set the example, and keep the rules to what are written that is why the association you represent is there! "that is what the racers pay for"

Lucas, I did not write that rule. It is a exact copy of the BITD truck/buggy rule # SCR34. The rule states that the decription, is the "minimum". My Commander, Rhino and many other race UTVs have been built with more than 1 diagonal brace. I have been building and tech inspecting UTVs for over 6 years in the BITD, CORR and Lucas Oil Offroad racing series, you can be confident that I know the rules very well. I would suggest that you stay focased on your build and let me handle the rules and tech. ;)
