That is crazy.
I can tell you for a fact, having worked for a sheriffs office in a mountainous area, that those cars will go places you would not believe, and I can also tell you I would NEVER by a former cop car.
They get beat to parade rest. Not necessarily due to abuse, but long hard hours..and miles...where I worked it was not uncommon for a unit to be on the road 20 hours a day and seeing 250 miles between two ten hour shifts.
The Crown Vics were okay, the older Chevy's were the best car we had in my years, when they quit building them we went to a bunch more 4x4 rigs and the sedans were all Crown Vics.
The first generation Vics had brakes they were flat out scary, but they fixed that in later years.
