December 4, 2010 DRIVE Race

After many discussions DRIVE has made the difficult decision to cancel the December 4th race due to a low number of pre-entries. Low number of entries has not stopped DRIVE from putting on a race in the past but they are looking at the long term future of the series. The series has decided to put a significant amount of money and effort into marketing the 2011 season rather than putting it into a race with small entries. The new marketing effort will include a contracted Marketing Manager, print and web ads, as well as video.

“This was an extremely difficult decision for us to make. In the last two years we have developed an incredibly loyal group of racers, volunteers, and sponsors that would show up to any of our races regardless of the number of entries. I hope that they all know how much we appreciate them and that we made the decision for the future of the series they have worked so hard to support. In the next few weeks you will start to see and hear a lot more advertising from us in regards to the 2011 season. Our January 22nd permit application has been submitted to BLM and we plan to push on into 2011. Canceling a race is the last thing I would ever want to do but it will not affect our standing with the BLM and will allow us to come back strong in Januaryâ€
- Doug Wasser, President DRIVE Off Road Racing

Along with increased marketing DRIVE will be revamping their entire contingency program from top to bottom. Their goal is to increase benefit to both the contingency sponsors as well as the racers. Expect to see a lot of positive changes in the program.

DRIVE would like to thank all their sponsors for the continued support of the series and their support of this decision.

I will continue to race with drive, although I need more people to come out and race. As fun as the races are it would be way better if I had some people to race with me. I'm racing for time and pride now but i want people to come and see how much fun they can have and how good of a community they will be entering when they race a drive race. I can't stress enough how much it would help if there were at least 1 more entry in these races. 1 entry leads to 1 or 2 more entrys and so on. I have been racing with drive for 2 years and been trying to recruit more utv's. It really doesn't take much and the gain is more than the cost. Let's keep desert utv racing going for the drive series. As of right now the only other association I know of that races utv's in the states is best in the desert, and as far as i'm concerened drive is where i want to race
