08/14/13 El Cajon, CA – At Round 10 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Superchips driver Cody Rahders took his Black Rhino/RacerX Toyo Tires ProLite to a 8th place finish in the highly competitive Lucas Oil ProLite class, a great finish for the rookie and it wasn’t easy.
For Saturday round 9, Cody was forced into the Last Chance Qualifier where he started in 8th and moved into 3rd by the end of lap one but the truck began to struggle and he ultimately pulled out of the race suffering a DNQ or Did Not Qualify in the process.
“The motor wouldn't run clean and I didn't want to hurt it so I pulled out. We took everything apart and found dirt in the carburetor.â€
With time on their hands the R3motorsports crew disassembled the entire fuel system and cleaned it then, the truck was loaded into the trailer and a trip was made 1 ½ hours south to Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park for a testing where after two 6 lap test sessions it was determined the problems were resolved and it was time to return to Glen Helen.
For Sundays qualifier Cody qualified 8th overall out of 28 entry’s and for the main he was lined up row 4 outside. When the green flag flew he was shuffled back to 11th but managed to climb his way back into ninth. A spin on lap five moved Cody all the way back to 17th and once the rear fenders were removed by the pack as it went by Cody put his head down and went to work.
By lap 7 he moved into 15th. By lap 8, 11th. And by race end he would physically finish 8th but a competitor who finished ahead of him failed post race tech inspection and Cody was moved up to 7th place.
“My crew chief wanted to come up with a race strategy but it was so crazy out there I made my own strategy, finish on the lead lap! I played it too safe in the beginning trying to save the body on the truck but once I saw it (the rear fenders) flying off during my spin I figured they're gone now so it’s time to move up. I didn’t take any crazy chances, just concentrated on others mistakes and moved forward until I saw the checkers. Now I know what to expect, I’m happy.â€
Cody’s next Prolite race will be on August 23rd and 24th for Rounds 11 & 12 of LOORRS in Reno Utah and as always, Cody and R3motorsports would like to thank the following for their support.

08/14/13 El Cajon, CA – At Round 10 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Superchips driver Cody Rahders took his Black Rhino/RacerX Toyo Tires ProLite to a 8th place finish in the highly competitive Lucas Oil ProLite class, a great finish for the rookie and it wasn’t easy.
For Saturday round 9, Cody was forced into the Last Chance Qualifier where he started in 8th and moved into 3rd by the end of lap one but the truck began to struggle and he ultimately pulled out of the race suffering a DNQ or Did Not Qualify in the process.
“The motor wouldn't run clean and I didn't want to hurt it so I pulled out. We took everything apart and found dirt in the carburetor.â€
With time on their hands the R3motorsports crew disassembled the entire fuel system and cleaned it then, the truck was loaded into the trailer and a trip was made 1 ½ hours south to Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park for a testing where after two 6 lap test sessions it was determined the problems were resolved and it was time to return to Glen Helen.
For Sundays qualifier Cody qualified 8th overall out of 28 entry’s and for the main he was lined up row 4 outside. When the green flag flew he was shuffled back to 11th but managed to climb his way back into ninth. A spin on lap five moved Cody all the way back to 17th and once the rear fenders were removed by the pack as it went by Cody put his head down and went to work.
By lap 7 he moved into 15th. By lap 8, 11th. And by race end he would physically finish 8th but a competitor who finished ahead of him failed post race tech inspection and Cody was moved up to 7th place.
“My crew chief wanted to come up with a race strategy but it was so crazy out there I made my own strategy, finish on the lead lap! I played it too safe in the beginning trying to save the body on the truck but once I saw it (the rear fenders) flying off during my spin I figured they're gone now so it’s time to move up. I didn’t take any crazy chances, just concentrated on others mistakes and moved forward until I saw the checkers. Now I know what to expect, I’m happy.â€
Cody’s next Prolite race will be on August 23rd and 24th for Rounds 11 & 12 of LOORRS in Reno Utah and as always, Cody and R3motorsports would like to thank the following for their support.
