“BLACK RHINO/RACERX MOTORSPORTS’ DRIVER STEVE “WHEELS†BUCARO & SEAN COOK’S RACE REPORTS FROM STADIUM SUPER TRUCKSâ€

09/27/13 El Cajon, CA – Last weekend Black Rhino/RacerX Motorsports’ sponsored drivers raced in the Stadium Super Trucks Series at the Sand Sports Super Show in Costa Mesa, CA.

STEVE “WHEELS†BUCARO #69 PILOT

“Saturday’s first heat race/practice was my first time out on metal ramps and blacktop. It was a blast; something new to get used too. I was slowest, but it was only a heat race. It gave me the time to learn the track and make car adjustments for the main at night.

I started in 2nd in the main but let things settle before pushing super hard. With cars flipping and breaking I pushed my hardest and with two spins I managed a 2nd place finish out of a 6 car field in the stock SxS class.

Day two I was 2 seconds faster and was able to see better in daylight. Again, I started in second, but it was chaotic by turn one so I hung back to steer clear of the carnage. I knew I was sitting 3rd or 4th but I could catch them. I did so on numerous occasions because my car would push. I caught the leader and spun in the sandy turn on the last lap. This caused me to fall back to 3rd.

I'd like to thank Robby Gordon for everything he did for me! It was probably the most fun I have ever had. Thanks to Bryan Osborn for spotting and keeping me in line. Jerry, Jerry's dad, Krystal, Billy and all the great new people who I met this weekend. Most of all, a special thank you too all the fans who cared more about me than any other car out there! It was AWESOME!!!!! I look forward to many more SST races whether in a Pilot or hopefully God willing in one of Robby's SSTrucks!!! Thank you to Buddy and Krystal for the great pictures.â€

SEAN COOK #1930 RZR

This past weekend saw the SPEED Energy / Black Rhino sponsored #1930 UTV take on the Stadium Super Trucks course at the Sand Sport Show in Costa Mesa. The team arrived Friday morning and got right to work setting up the UTV for racing. The team has been very busy going through all aspects of the car in preparation for the last few races of the season.

Friday was spent taking in all the action of Robby Gordon and the other Stadium Truck drivers along with the incredible racing put on by the class 1400 trucks. The side x side action did not start until Saturday afternoon. When the call came for practice Sean brought the Rzr on course and immediately found that the shock set up was a little soft, he completed the practice session, but there was fine tuning to be done. Sean stated the course was something he was not ready for, the jumps seemed a lot larger from behind the wheel, he noted that the Rzr is set up for the desert so trying to race on a short tight course was quite a challenge. The team was very grateful for the support given to them by Bret King, owner of KING shocks, Brett enlisted one of his technicians Kellan to help sort out the shock set up. Unfortunately with the limited amount of time and resources available between practice and the main the right fix for the problem came up a little short, but what an effort they made!

During the main event Sean lined up with rest of the modified class and took the green flag, immediately off the start the rubbing began, Sean stated, cars were going every which direction even upside down. Sean knew he would have his hands full with the soft suspension; he hung in and made it through the race but was extremely whip lashed after.

Sean stated it was a pleasure to race with such a great group of racers, everyone was very willing to help one another out in the pits and everyone was very supportive of one another.

The SPEED Energy team stayed to support the racers in the Sunday session as well as to take in the final day of the Sand Sport Show.

As always Sean would like to thank his incredible sponsors for making all this possible: SPEED Energy, Black Rhino / Racer X, Polaris, GBC Motorsports, Torco, Rigid Industries, Rugged Race Products, KING Shocks, Blue Torch Fabrication, MJ Motorsports, Optima Batteries, OMF Wheels, Muzzy Performance, Alba Racing, Twisted Stitch Seats, Factory UTV, 4130 Clothing, Kettle Pizza, Cal Hot Coating, Red House BBQ, D & D Graphx, and all the family and friends who help support them.
