2014 odes dominator 4 door hard to get into gears

Im new to utvs just bought it for cheap but my problem is when shifting from any spot to another it wont go in ...its only sometimes if i rock the utv back and forth i can then move the lever.....i have disconnected the lever and tried to move at trans only and same problem
Im very sure the problem is in trans but wanted other opinions before i go that way and what could it be if so

Hey bud, Ive got a 2 door around the same age. Occasionally I have had issues selecting gears and have seem to have it sorted now. Try holding your foot on the brake and giving the throttle a 'blip' or 2 in the closest selectable gear. This acts similar to rocking the vehicle and has worked for me so far, you should then be able to continue up or down the shift range.
