This was the most amazing UTV RACE there is on the planet. These new so called golf carts are just proving to the world what there capable of doing. They took on a huge desert with the toughest obsticals ever and starting just behind 2 different classes in the every man challenge race. There was 58 vehicles in Class 4500 and class 4600 and started 1 hour before the UTV's.There was 36 UTV's to start the race and only 3 to finish in corrected time. There was a ton of other UTV's that did very well in the rocks but just couldnt make it in on corrected time.
We got to the sand hill which the UTV's had 2 options rock section or sand hill? The rock section was plugged up with jeeps so the UTV's made a pass on the sand hill. First UTV there was a White Xp 900 and then Mitch Guthrie and he starts to winch up after getting stuck, then comes a 4 seat Xp 900 all blacked out and makes a great pass. The UTV's were plugged up at this point and there was about 15 or more waiting in a single file line. Jon Crowley,Cassey Currie and others make it up with no winch.
We take off from there and head over to Aftershock to find Cassey Currie in 1st place making passes over the side of the hill. Here came a bunch more UTV's starting to bunch up and make the same move as Currie. The rock obsticle looked impossible and the jeeps were getting passed by UTV's. We watched about 10 UTV's come through the obsticle which included POLARIS, KAWASAKI and ARCTIC CAT still on this crazy race.
Now sitting at Chocolate Thunder waiting for a UTV to come through. The first car was Mitch Guthrie to pull up to gate keeper which is at the bottom of Chocolate Thunder and used his winch once again very smart move. Mitch gets up and over with the help of little Mitchie and continues on up Chocolate Thunder. Just watching these UTV's getting to this point was amazing. Team Jagged X/Crowley and Team Nasty make it up as well as these are your top 3 leaders at this point.
We all load up and charge over to the finish line in hopes a UTV makes it across! It was a battle at the end with Mitch Guthrie and Jon Crowley. Listening to the live brodcast and video it all came down to corrected time and Mitch Guthrie your 2013 King Of The Hammers CHAMPION by 16.0 Seconds. Jon Crowley taking 2nd place and Matt Enochs sitting in 3rd place. All 3 UTV's were Polaris Xp 900's and just proved what a UTV can really do. Last but not least these Co-Drivers had to work and did a hell of a job!
